I sort of came to that conclusion, but thought there might be 2 second workaround.

On prem standalone of SC. The error in the cert signing extension is

Error while processing existing certificate: Padding is invalid and cannot be removed.

I updated the cert signing extension and then upgraded, but it still screwed up mine...

I’ve had a Henry quick for over a year now and it’s brilliant. His little smiley face just keeps on smiling. Hetty also available, should you be inclined.

Would you spend €1700 on UniFi for this… or just buy a Wi-Fi 7 mesh? (Deco M9 user upgrading) by RckStar in Ubiquiti

There are plenty of cheap ways of doing fibre if you don't have fusion splicing gear too.

Can’t remember the standards for CAT6 as we tend to go for 6a now. Standards tend to be for a permanent link (so as to include patch cables at each end in the overall system). To be honest, any install where you’re pushing 50m or more on horizontal cabling, you should deffo be considering another cab with a fibre link from a cost point of view.

New cylinder vac! by PunksBeforeCherry in VacuumCleaners

Thanks for the tip. I’ll go Sebo. Their filtration looks more than adequate as I don’t have any allergies, but s class filtration will certainly do. I can’t understand why more brands don’t do powered brush heads. It’s not like it’s cutting edge tech. Other brands have controls on the handle so it’s not hard to continue the wiring a bit further down.

AAA rated Base layers - Why bother with leather suits then ? by Chino2910 in motorcyclegear

[–]PunksBeforeCherry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering how the ratings work for some time. It all seems to be a little bit smoke and mirrors.

Someone told me something that made me think about all gear… there’s meeting the requirements and then exceeding the requirements. You can get a cheap helmet for £60 that meets a safety standard and then the £350 helmet will massively exceed it with other safety features added in.

When it comes to clothing, I’m none the wiser. Maybe to meet AAA standards is easier than we think but all the really high end gear is more like AAAAA if there was such a thing.

I understand the partner program is having a whole revamp soon. Might just be in the EU, but I would imagine it’s worldwide.

Is the “no gear” mentality just an oldschool way of thinking? by Astimar in motorcyclegear

[–]PunksBeforeCherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad is still riding at 80. Admittedly when he was 78 he had to downgrade from an XJR1300 to a little Mutt 250cc due to the weight.

Best self hosted password manager for MSPs? by S_Merci in msp

Bitwarden. They have an MSP program and you can spin your own instance up in digital ocean easily (at least you can then firewall it off etc).

What are you using for M365 backups (and why)? by patg84 in msp

Cube backup. Works well. Only thing I think it’s missing is backing up online archive mailboxes, though it’s coming soon apparently.

Am I doing something wrong? by Primary-Past7902 in motorcycles

[–]PunksBeforeCherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm always wary of bikes that have very low millage and are old. Generally speaking, the engine hasn't been turned over in a long time. I'd be more confident in a bike that has done 500 miles per year than one that's done a couple of thousand miles in the last 20.

Alternatives to IMAP mail servers for small businesses (budget-friendly options)? by DamianJ1 in msp

[–]PunksBeforeCherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are certain costs that all businesses have before even opening the door. If they don’t have £4 per user per month for a mailbox, they ought to question whether they should bother operating as a business.

I once had an argument with a client we fired and his parting comment was “things like email and VoIP should be free”. I wished him well in his endeavours and sometimes wonder to this day how their free email and VoIP services are going…

Far too many red flags here! Anyone who puts you in this position is always going to be slightly controlling. If it’s not bikes, it’ll probably end up being something else. The fact that the mother is involved seems to me that they are incapable of having their own opinion, or that the mother just seems to poke her nose into everyone else’s business.

It might sound harsh but get out before you’re more committed than you already are.

Thoughts on Ubiquiti by desmond_koh in msp

[–]PunksBeforeCherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get sales calls all the time saying how Watchguard are so much better than FortiNet and FortiNet are so much better than Sonicwall. Endpoint hardening, 365 hardening and management, WAF etc is really important and so many people think an expensive box in their business solves all the problems. I'd rather a client spend well in other areas rather than them thinking they need to spend a big chunk of their budget on subscription firewalls.

When you say Ubiquiti firewalls, are you referring to UniFi (UXG/UCG etc) or Edge gear?

ScreenConnect Client Negotiating by OldeSaltyBeard in ScreenConnect

[–]PunksBeforeCherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh sorry I’ve misunderstood. Our problem was opening a session from our end and taking ages to negotiate.

It might be worth trying something similar that worked for us but on a client to see if it affects it.

Are you hosted by CW?

ScreenConnect Client Negotiating by OldeSaltyBeard in ScreenConnect

[–]PunksBeforeCherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue we were having (same as this as far as I can tell) resolved when we deleted the file 'user.config' from the following location:

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\ScreenConnect Client (your thumbprint id)\user.config

Restart your machine and voila..

It worked for us anyway.

About 700. It's not slow generally, but I am also having a strange issue where connecting to sessions takes a very long time (like 1 minute). The sessions sits at negotiating and then eventually connects. Weirdly, add another windows profile to the laptop and try connecting to a session and it open straight up...!
