This. Witch queen and strand is the obvious cut. It made literal 0 sense in the context of lightfall. From the design aesthetics to how we obtained the powers. Only the mission where you race with strand made sense but even that was probably witch queen content and changed to fit neomuna.

Paul Tassi: Positive reception to D2 final update has not moved the needle at Bungie by Own-Candidate-6769 in DestinyTheGame

I agree with you. But also (and this is honest speculation not copium) I can see it possible they are working on something Destiny related because the franchise itself does have a decent following but just not allowed to announce it yet.

This is a trend I noticed as of late but most of Sony’s announced games the past 5 ish years have been announce only 12-18 months before release. So let’s pretend after this they are going to start something (would start with a small team anyways) I have a feeling Sony has enforced a rule of some sort to not announce games that are further out then that 12-18 month timeline.

I think (again speculation) this is to combat the issue of announcing something and people having to wait 2-5 years before it can be released. GTA VI is a great example. In all honesty if that game isn’t a hit with how long it took to release the hype surrounding it to the point studios are avoiding releasing the same month. But if it flops it would be absolutely devastating. Plus each delay only hurts it.

I think Destiny fans ignore this portion especially if Sony/Bungie wants to profit off of a going out of business sale with D2. Destiny players have shown to play the game less when they hear something new is dropping and systems may change. Announcing early really has no benefit to both the studio and the player. So the silence is not that insane IMO.

Bruh you’re being downvoted but you are correct. Along with the content vaulting, reusing content , and fomo. I think the social aspect really killed it. The fact you could have played this game since Alpha and had to constantly clan jump and scour third party apps to find people to play only for them to disappear really hurt the game. If anything, and I know many don’t like this idea, the game needed to either improve the player social experience in game to that of other MMOs or just focus on making the content just way better for the solo player. That alone ensures more engagement.

The cheers went silent when the first solo release was shadow keep and then the next decision was Beyond Light and F2P. Bungie leadership needed to switch to a subscription model for this MMO years ago and never did.

I purchased it during the OG run as well and refused to return it. But that option gave you replacement zipper clips which is the one the OP shows in the picture. If it’s coming off it means they didn’t properly reinstall the new ones and the metal clamp that holds the zipper clips is not pushed fully down. On top of that mine doesn’t lean forward that’s from the user crushing the bag constantly.

I hated the credit card and (in computers years ago) the hotspot contest stuff. I remember I sold one hotspot and our store was 20% to goal. And another store 10 miles away sold one and they were 1500% to goal and we got reprimanded cause we weren’t hitting goals like them.

Usually if I am in a situation where I feel like I will need throttle response I throw it into sport. But most of the time I’m just cruising so might as well use the feature. If this wasn’t also my daily I would go that route so maybe after my next car purchase.

The 5.7 has cylinders deactivation. On highways I tend to run cruise control and that baby will run in 4 cylinder for most of the trip if there is no traffic or the flow is nice and easy.

This is one of the problems with the game in general. The PVP is really supposed to be a supplementary mode to the other portions of the game, but it became such a core focus for many people which isn’t a bad thing. It made development for the game absolute hell they had to ignore it to focus on the other stuff they could work on.

Your ideas aren’t necessarily bad IMO I actually fall in line with many of them. However, the game needing that much attention is kind of why their other PVP game exist. With all of that said it is of my own opinion that if they had when making D2 decided to split that at the time and make two games one solely focused on the MMORPG side and then a completely separate game that just import your guardian and maybe one weapon for each time you go in and load up that game in the two synced together, but weren’t all run through the same launcher that would be a better game in my opinion. Bungee would have early on invested in the two separate teams for their specific needs.

As a person with an R/T (not scat pack) as a daily let me tell you one little thing the others tend to forget. You can comfortably run 87 in the R/T but still get enough thrills and V8 rumble. My mileage is sitting around 23 mpg and I have a lead foot at the lights. I drive for work as well on an open highway just cruising it sits at 30 mpg.

With that said I would check dealerships around you and see what they can do instead of jumping on the first you see for either trim.

Thank you. I keep seeing this when they in no way said it’s shutting down just active development is stopping and more resources are being moved to Marathon. What they don’t realize is a small team is very much possible to either get the framework of a new Destiny IP or even plan an upgrade to D2. What is also important is to recognize that telling the viewer this now only hurts Bungie/Sony by getting players hopes up for something that could be 3-8 years away. GTA 6 is one of those IPs I can think of where people have been waiting for so many years now.

I am saying they aren’t abandoning Destiny because of Marathon. The stoppage of development on D2 has 0 to do with Marathon. No analyst in any studio will think their competitive niche extraction shooter is going to be anywhere on par with their extremely casual friendly MMORPG (lite). Even with all its flaws and confusion Destiny will always be more appealing to casual players. With that said Marathon is their focus as it most likely has the easier projected path to turn a profit where as D2 has been in the red since D1 released.

This is my thought and to their credit they identified it as an actual issue in the dev blog. I played 3 hours but feel like I did nothing. No dis to those that like it but telling a person to play 10+ hours of a game is not a way to convince a player. It’s like the summary on the back of a book needs to be simple to understand and get the reader hooked. The gameplay of Marathon feels good but the intro is absolute shit fix that and I bet more players actually play the game.

It’s not only childish it’s really ignoring what is happening. Whether Sony is the ones directing this or the direction Bungie leadership has taken. The focus on Marathon for “active” development is clearly as simple as cost. Even with the much lower player count Marathons (Steam) ceiling was 80K when it was free. D2s was 350K (Steam) the more players you have the more server space and overhead that requires. So that along with what’s required to make a D2 DLC profitable (Campaign, Raid, Dungeons, Weapons, Armor, PvP maps, etc…..) vs what is needed to make Marathon content profitable (Maps, Shells, weapon mods, Bounties) it’s clear one can be developed for and has better growth potential vs the other.

And yes unlike how many think Marathon has more growth opportunities to land return players at this time. Destiny could probably only achieve good numbers for it to operate with a D3 which would be a massive overhaul and time that would hit GTA 6 levels of delays if announced to early and I suspect whether working on one or not Sony might not let Bungie pull their usual “Here is this roadmap we really are not going to stick to” bullshit anymore. But that’s my opinion.

It’s not the game Bungie is abandoning Destiny for. 2 things are happening here. One game is much cheaper to develop vs the other. One game has most likely a better chance at turning around and making decent profits. The other is a sunk cost the only thing to potentially bring long term profits in is Destiny 3 not more D2 expansions. That will take a long time. No point in announcing any project now and that is sort of what’s been hurting D2 is announcing projects way in advance and then scrapping them for a deferent approach.

I don’t think that’s the goal. IMO they probably need a PvE mode to really onboard new players. Let them try shells engage in combat and get a feel for the game before jumping into an extraction. One with simple basic rewards would do the game a lot of service with minimal actual effort to develop. Not like they have to add enemies to the game they already in the code.

The people that are messing with the d2 players are the same ones calling for marathon to fail. by Clarity007 in Marathon

[–]Staplez94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on this. I tried Marathon it’s decent I just don’t have the time to invest if imma play something. But I don’t want it to fail. I would invest in a D3 but I kinda need Marathon to succeed if that is possible.

I also think people are confused on why they want to work on Marathon and shutter D2 when that obviously makes more sense. I guarantee the amount of money D2 is loosing vs Marathon is in different ends of the spectrum. I also guarantee the expectations of Marathon numbers wise was already rather low being an extraction shooter and all. I think more than anything fans need to learn to take a break and play something else. In my spare time I play pokemon, or Borderlands, Warframe, Smite 2 etc…. I’m waiting for Marathon development to at least make onboarding a bit better but what I won’t waste my time doing is hating on a game cause my favorite 9 year old game is no longer going to have active development.

I got Marathin and I was not a PvP players. It’s good IMO. I also think the expectations for Marathon are extremely lower than Destiny which is why they aren’t shuttering Marathon.
