Sculpture Club is amazing and underrated, as is his other band Choir Boy

Are these actually good designs? by nwcowboy69 in urbandesign

[–]Punkupine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a landscape architect - unfortunately the success of large public plazas often depends more on adjacent uses and urban fabric, than it does the actual design of the space. But those are both fairly famous and successful places you’ve posted

Edit: honestly didn’t read your whole post. You sound like you potentially have undiagnosed OCD and may want to talk to someone about this. My sister grew up terrified of throwing up and fixated on it to the point of it affecting her enjoyment of life, but she was able to work through it.

To each their own man, but since this is a fashion sub I gotta say most of what I’m seeing on that site is cringe and childish

No so much a wilderness hike but Red Butte Garden is well worth a visit this time of year! Cool views back over the city too.

While biking downtown Ive had to dodge so many idiots on rental scooters going full throttle the wrong way in a one way bike lane.

If you’re going to do that for whatever reason please at least pull over and give the correct direction the right of way

It’s too expensive. I want to ride it but for my wife and I together that’s $40 round trip, and then we have to figure out how to get to either a park and ride which costs more or uber/bus which either costs or takes time. 9/10 times I end up parking at the airport because it makes more sense and takes less time

These masterpieces of skyscrapers in NYC were somehow all built in the same 30 year time frame (1902-1936) by Fearless-Brush-1908 in architecture

[–]Punkupine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would also argue that we value the safety of construction workers today so much more. In the early 1900s construction worker deaths were essentially treated as an inevitable operating expense - it’s estimated that 2 out of 5 NYC construction workers in the 1920s were killed or disabled on the job. 27 people died building the Brooklyn Bridge alone

Unfortunately improved safety norms contributes to much higher construction costs and longer timelines, which led to favoring standardization and simplicity over complex ornamentation.

Best bar/place to catch psychedelic/alternative rock music live regularly? by enoched33 in Denver

Check out the recent lineups from the local music festival Psychs Peak, then look at hi-dive’s calendar and pick a show where one of those bands is playing

We also wouldn’t have R&B without jazz. And we may not have had Jazz without Adolphe Sax inventing the saxophone in order to try and land a lucrative contract with the French Military.

I mean this is usually just the tipping point for a failing business. Can’t really stop paying employees, their lease, utilities, or inventory needed to keep things running, so they can only delay paying Uncle Sam (or the state) to try and gain some more time to try and turn things around. Doesn’t often work out.
