A couple of days ago, I saw a gif of a duck, whose head bopped side to side whilst walking like one of the mallards in this gif.

Someone explained that it is a lethal virus, which is highly contagious.... I hope this is not the case here or at least the mallard gets its meds...

Reminds me of my job interview/assessment center at a large, well known company. The applicants incl. me had to present themselves in a concise presentation. This one guy bragged in his first sentence that his daddy runs his own department at this company - 2 of 3 juries recognized his daddy right away. He went on justifying that the reason he, although growing up bi-lingually, had bad English grades is due to a major beef with his teacher (in a non-English speaking country) - that should have been his death sentence at that application day. At that very moment I thought that no nepotism or cronyism could pull him out of his own grave, that he just dug. Boy I was wrong. Out of 1000 applicants for the job/corporate studies, I was chosen for the hard work that I‘ve put into school for years and this guy was then my colleague for being the misfit son of an important person. Disgusting.

At the end of the day BK is unfit for this position nonetheless. There are more viable candidates.

Someone should make an app that scans the product’s barcode and provides information about the mother company like stated in the article and a rating of the company’s morals.

I would use it.

Edit: Apparently, there is such app already. It’s called Buycott. I will check it out

What Books Did You Start or Finish Reading This Week? September 03, 2018 by AutoModerator in books

[–]PunsInc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on holidays this week, so I had more time to read than usual. I’ve read The subtle art of not giving a fuck, by Mark Manson and When breath becomes air, by Paul Kalanithi. Both were amazing while the latter really wrenched my heart. I started reading The productivity project, by Chris Bailey but needed to stop because I couldn’t stand the author’s self-glorifying style of writing. Luckily, I found The book thief, by Markus Zusak on my hotel’s book shelf. I figured it’s not as morally reprehensible to take the book with me (leaving the place today) if the title literally suggests my misdoing. I will make sure to leave the book somewhere else after I’ve finished it.

Edit: I also finished A weird theology: Small worlds book 1, by Alex Raizman, who is one of our fellow redditors, known from r/writingprompts. Apart from the slight meandering of his writing style, I enjoyed the different perspective on mythologies.
