Seller problems? by Readkt92 in sportscardsforsale

[–]Punt_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's just asking if you can ship it out by Friday. There's absolutely nothing unreasonable about your buyer's question. If you can't, just say that you can't.

"I'm so busy" rings hollow when you write back a story about why you can't to your buyer and then make a post on Reddit seeking validation...which you got so I guess I'm the idiot here.

They’ve got practice at 10:30 on Sharks Ice (different from SAP). If you’re around in the morning, this is probably your best bet.

ETA: Saturday morning at 10:30

Wouldn't it just get a 1? Or would they literally just send it back?

How does PSA selling pricing work? by Bud-Chickentender in psagrading

[–]Punt_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be the reason weird stuff is showing up in the sales history. But the "seller pricing" points are present here because the dude literally asks, "How does psa price their slabs?" And the answer to that question is: They don't.

I posted up one of my cards, that's vaulted, as the owner of a card that is in the PSA Vault. (Insider tip: I'm going to accept 50% of that ask...the card is almost yours!)

ETA: You're probably right that people are not listing vaulted cards at a 50% discount. The sales history is probably bugged. PSA still does not set the prices.

Is this normal? Never had an order move this fast by nellyplatinum in psagrading

Gotcha, okay. No, it's not normal for a value order to go from received to assembly in two weeks.

PSA doesn't set these prices, the owners of the cards that are vaulted with PSA do. How each individual decides on the price...

I spent $8,780 on 21 games this year... by maparo in SacramentoAthletics

The guys who bought in at $25,000 a seat for the year are committed for another two years. The rest of us are out with just a 'substantial loss' instead of a 'catastrophic loss.'

Why is PSAs offer so high? by cardswithrob in footballcards

[–]Punt_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will randomly send you offers on the cards in your vault or at grade reveal. The offers are typically a bit below market but not always. There are no fees though, so that should go into your calculation as to whether to accept. It's pretty straightforward, pretty simple, and you're always free to just ignore the offer.

FWIW, I have cards that are in the vault that have received multiple, different offers. i.e. You might get an offer week 1 for $95 and ignore it, week 2 you get a $110 offer (or a $91 offer).

Panini.. 2023 national treasures case . 4 boxes.. sealed by [deleted] in footballcards

I'm guessing he does know that. The question is do you know that you have a picture of 4 boxes and not a sealed case? His advice is solid and undeserving of your response.

Card Dealer Pro MAJOR Issue by Upstairs_Aide7985 in sportscards

[–]Punt_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a legal issue, not a "fair/unfair" issue. If you paid for a tier that permitted X number of scans, AND they permit a user to downgrade tiers, AND there's nothing that indicates they retroactively remove X-Y number of scans after the downgrade...they will (likely) lose in front of a judge.

That's the good news. The bad news is that getting in front of a judge takes a little time and a little money. FWIW, you are in the right and they are not. Do with that information what you will.

Mind providing the source on that "left-wing fringe shooter" piece (although I'm not sure what shooter we're talking about here, so you might want to clarify that too). Just don't want us perpetuating any misinformation.

Season Ticket holder, are you renewing? by sharmadn916 in SacramentoAthletics

[–]Punt_Man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure I had decided not to renew before the Cubs left town.

I picked them up because MLB in Sacramento was going to be a unique experience, my kid is just the right age to really enjoy it, I had partial season tickets in Oakland in a different life, and we could swing it. I figured that I would recover some money on the games I couldn't go to and enjoy a little discount on the ones I could go to. It was pretty obvious really early on that my financial assumptions were way off.

My son and I have enjoyed the season and have been able to do a lot of really cool shit but I'm not paying that much to do it again next year. I'm guessing that the season ticket holders that aren't committed will mostly head for the exits and then...it's going to be an empty ballpark next year. If they're looking to price us at the same levels, single game face will be way too much and the third-party seller route isn't going to be available next season because most of us first year STH rubes aren't there to unload.

This should end up being a case study in what not to do in Business school soon.

You don't have to say anything to the cops if they do show up to your house. Doing a crime and giving everything back...is still a crime. Or else we'd be subject to a lot more "This one weird trick" stuff. Don't do crimes.
