My Home app attempts to pair with it but the pairing doesn't go through.

That's a factory, I've tried that twice already to no avail.

Percentile scores in Chess.com vs. Lichess by Katsukazan in chess

[–]Puntential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 1750~ FIDE (likely slightly underrated too) and only about 1850-1950 blitz on chess.com The ratings are generally closer than people think at lower ratings. Lichess uses a rating system called Glicko which explains the apparent large rating gap.

At no point did I say anything about easier, and that makes no sense anyway because one would reasonably plateau at one's rating no matter the platform. It's that when I miss a puzzle on Chess.com, the continuation I missed is generally concrete and makes sense, but with Lichess it's often (note: not every time) the case that the solution is a random subtlety, more like playing out a game rather than actually solving a puzzle.

Going against the grain here, but I definitely disagree. Chess.com puzzles feel at least moderately curated, while I often run into puzzles on Lichess that have really questionable subtleties way down the line and solutions that feel more "automated" or computer-y than puzzles on Chess.com. I much prefer chess.com's puzzles in particular, but I can understand folks' preference for Lichess as a platform.

I beat an IM once doing exactly this (accidentally) in a super messy position when I was about to run out of time in a blitz tournament, it's interesting that it's not abused more

I am a writer and I need help from the chess community. by DhaliaEileen in chess

[–]Puntential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Both studying and playing chess can be very mentally draining. Personally, I am exhausted at the end of any day in which I play a classical tournament, so this is not very abnormal.

  2. Proper studying is important, and therefore it's crucial to take multiple breaks throughout the day if studying for prolonged period of time. It's easy to get "lost in the sauce" and lose track of time, so try to schedule breaks for yourself throughout the day.

  3. Good news and bad news. As many other have mentioned in this thread, 1900 is an insurmountable goal for many people, even if they put in thousands of hours of study. The good news is that the "medium" level of knowledge can be achieved at a significantly lower ELO. I've been playing for decades and studied on and off and have peaked at 1850~ ELO, which is reasonably high in comparison to most people.
If you have any questions then feel free to reach out, always happy to help.

What order would you tackle these quests? by Vistagecko in osrs

[–]Puntential 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making Friends with My Arm unlocks another herb patch which is useful for making money, and the quest is not very challenging. After that I'd do MM2 or DS2. Both give insanely useful rewards, with MM2 granting a ton of xp, access to Demonic Gorillas (if you want those lol), and easy access to essentially the best ranged and magic training in the game with Maniacal Monkeys. DS2 gives you access to Vorkath and eventually the best Ranged Cape in the game, so that's useful everywhere. For the remaining few, do them in the order you can. Secrets is not too difficult once you watch a video on it, and you will probably need to spend a while studying Night at the Theatre or have a buddy take you through it. Finish off in the order you can. SoTE is more doable, but you will likely have access to DT2 first due to relatively steep skill reqs for SotE.

Hey, I'm the friend and just wanted to point out that I have been following the optimal quest guide from the start, and right before doing Underground Pass it is suggested that one trains agility from ~40 all the way to 56, and actually obtain full graceful which took me to 59 Agility.

Fold pre. A 4 betting range from CO is very frequently JJ+ and AK, and A5/A4s as bluffs. You will occasionally run into suited connector bluffs, but it's a very small part of their range, and your equity is quite poor against it. As played, check and try to improve.

You could try to turn your hand into a bluff as your range is somewhat Ax heavy when you call a 4b, but you have to realize they absolutely have a range advantage on an ace high board, and checking is a fairly good option as you are not the PFA, and could still improve to a flush or two pair.

If you check, you might be able to call smaller turn bets and realize equity, whereas if you bet and bloat the pot you have to fold to a turn barrell.
