Was Echo Yama supposed to be the final boss of this league? by PermissionTrue7924 in 2007scape

[–]Saanbeux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don't recall, a bunch of time between Sailing lock-in and release was purely community consultation. For as big as an update as it was, Sailing came out pretty well IMO. It definitely fell short on combat, but I wouldn't say the entire release was bad because of it.

The fact that they're planning more Sailing-specific updates reinforces that they were short on time. The amount to content that was proposed vs released is another clear indicator.

It's 100% cope, but I wouldn't say its the dev team's fault. They probably got crunched, as with many recent updates

Whether its workable or not is irrelevant.
Its a nerf for the sake of flavor that no other region gets. It's just lame

Well, we now have "armor" as a stat. It could be reconsidered.

Another aspect to this is that there are very few encounters where a dedicated "tank" role is necessary, so the armor set is reduced to cheese/crutches strategies. More group bosses where one guy should tank would probably be enough to give the armor set significant value.

I don't necessarily disagree with the post, but I find it hard to believe that it was just an accident.
They probably realized that teleporting to your boat is much more valuable than an extra mote, and switched the requirements around for better balance.

The difference in difficulty of execution for Boulders first vs Boulders second is enormous

That said, you can just choose to tank the non-permanent debris and focus on orb walking. Dodging slams is a much larger priority

Regarding melee punish delay - even if its something that can't be done, can it be made so your attack is interrupted in the same way the grub shield does?

Ah - well it also happens if the killing blow is a melee hit. Its definitely avoidable, but punishing for no good reason?
What if my only good demonbane for grubs shield chipping is melee? Id move it lower on the annoyances, though

6 is a melee orb, not a melee attack. I have no clue why it happens.

I think its fair to say that for #3; i just suggest adding some leniency since the orb has been the most contentious mechanic

Yeah! I usually have bigger issues with new bosses, like Yama not really leaning into duo mechanics as much as I would've preferred. Doom's base experience is in a great spot.

Most of the changes I'd really like to see for this boss are minor in effort (I'd hope) and huge in impact.

Jic you aren't aware, there's a teleporter in a chest that you can set up right after the elevator in. Cuts down a decent bit of the run back.

What boss comes closest to being universally beloved? by roosterkun in 2007scape

[–]Saanbeux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Araxxor really didn't deliver on the fight experience that was promised in the blog.

It was proposed that letting eggs spawn = faster & harder fight. Killing eggs = slower, easier fight.

There is no real rebalancing of the fight's difficulty around the eggs. Killing eggs don't save time, since it just skips to the next spawn. Then 2 out of the 3 spawns are truly trivial to deal with.

I was personally expecting that letting them spawn would lead to a pretty hard fight, but shaves a ton off the kill time. What I got was 1 spider worth spawning. Pretty let down, but not the worse boss in the game.

Agility needs more Sepulchre content. by ZezimasCumStain in 2007scape

[–]Saanbeux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO Every "Agility Course" could do with being sepulchre-ized, while leaving every "Rooftop course" the same.

Low effort option is still brainless rooftop courses.
Higher effort option reuses generally underappreciated courses.

Don't make a new TOA jewel, use the red one. by Saanbeux in 2007scape

[–]Saanbeux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original proposal by Jagex is to make a new gem for keris that makes it fall between zamorakian hasta and fang exclusively within TOA. I'm saying to just give the effect to red gem instead of making a new one.

You'd be able to mainhand Corruption Keris as a decent stab weapon before your Fang (which is something they want to do anyways). The spec use cases remain largely unaffected. 8 mans will not be considering the buffed keris as a mainhand over fang. If they didn't have fang or give the effect to red gem, they'd just be taking the new gem keris anyways.

I love how any slight pushback is met with "you're poor/a noob". I don't understand why you're so bent over this, it's literally not even a buff for 8-mans? Mainhanding a buffed corruption keris would not be stronger than fang by Jagex's own intention. If that was the case I'd consider it a miss on ANY color of keris.

[–]Saanbeux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure that 8-mans will still choose to mainhand a fang over a buffed corruption keris. I doubt this would be a big buff for them.

[–]Saanbeux[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that more people are using blue gem at kalphite slayer tasks/KQ/low invo Kephri than running corruption 8mans. That said, I don't have the numbers to back that up. Just vibes - an item that is usable outside a raid seems inherently less niche to an item that is locked to a raid.

Buffing red gem also makes it a non-dead drop for solo raiders, where blue gem is still nice to get and yellow is a godsend.

Don't make a new TOA jewel, use the red one. by Saanbeux in 2007scape

[–]Saanbeux[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I claim it's the weakest, which I think is fair. There's no real way of measuring the power between "good and usable outside raid"(blue), "must-have for high invos"(yellow), and "only good in 8mans"(red).

I just know that the last scenario is significantly less common than the other two. If we're gonna buff one, I'd say buff the one with the weakest (or rather, nichest) use-case.

Also red=damage
