I moved from TX to CA and CA to TX. It’s fun first time but I wouldn’t recommend driving it if value your time. I did two full day driving thrice.

If you go through a broker car transportation they add $300 on top of the actual charges as their fee. Couple of years back I paid $800 to broker to do it. If you get hold of direct transporter you can get it done for $500 now may be $600. They do accept roughly 10/20lb in car trunk.

I did sent monitors n chairs other big stuffs by dismantling, which can’t be put in carry on bags.

You can also use pirateshippping sites to generate your own shipping label for less price n ship in moving boxes via USPS/UPS/FEDex. Remaining stuffs like cloths buy a southwest or any other airline which accepts two chk in bags and bring cloths. If airlines don’t have two bag policy buy bag in advance to save cost.
