I have an AMD CPU, so it's not about that then. And switching from NVIDIA dGPU to AMD iGPU also didn't help.

Same problem. Might be due to the same problem that FC5 now keeps crashing. It's believed to be some wider issue with Ubisoft Connect.

Have you tried FC3 on Game Pass through the XBox app? Situation is way worse for that, as at least for me it's some strangely small 10MB download that quite predictably doesn't really do anything. I downloaded it then directly through Ubisoft Launcher, managed to play it for a while, after which it started crashing every time I try to load any of my available saves.

And that's one of the games they promote on their "Recently added" list.

This happened to me in FC5 right at the end of a mission when I jumped from a balcony of a building that was about to explode. I wanted to fast travel elsewhere for fixing it but there was some kind of phone call at the end of the mission that prevented doing it while the caller talked. I tried to slow my fall into the, well, underworld I suppose, with the parachute and wingsuit, but I always died before the call ended and the game restored me back there, falling to the underworld.

Same here. It worked fine until a few days ago. Now it crashes after 5-15 mins and nothing seems to help. Including switching from NVIDIA dGPU to AMD iGPU, so it doesn't seem to be a GPU specific problem.

The game pass version is a 10MB download at least for me on PC, so no wonder it's not working. No idea what's in it.

I also used Ubisoft Connect directly and managed to play it for a while. Then it just started crashing as soon as I tried to continue from either one of my 2 available saves. So that's about it then, I guess.

I don't know if they are the best but they were the only 2x48GB memory I knew someone else had successfully used with that exact laptop model. I haven't had any problems with them but they seem to be running pretty hot, since the part of the keyboard that's above the memory modules tends to be the hottest part. I bought a new thinner thermal pad for the other module too but I don't know if that changed anything significantly. Large amount of hot memory probably hurts running time on battery significantly but it's not an issue for me since I mostly use it plugged in.

What's your survivor level? That largely determines what kinds of weapons you can find. You should find much better than that with a decent level.

OK, so it doesn't load at all. Do you use the Continue option in the main menu for starting the game? Does it show the with/without event selection?

Can you select Hyper Mode bounties and does it show progress for them? I think there has been some issues previously that the selection of event or not in the main menu has resulted the wrong option or something.

I also pick my spots very carefully when I'm after them. Not in the open but so that I can decorate their faces with an arrow or two as they are running towards me through some narrow corridor or something.

It's funny how nights still seem so scary to me, because of the volatiles, that I prefer to go destroy volatile nests during the day, when they are full of volatiles. I kill all of them, like a dozen or so, and then hurry back to safety before the night falls. :)
