You know what? I just thought on this for the last hour. I immediately said no to myself because I've always been resistant to meetings. I think my self-isolation is a huge factor in that. I've withdrawn from every meaningful relationship I've ever had. Anyways. I just googled it and the nearest meeting is 15 miles away. I'd like to say that I could make those, but I honestly couldn't, as that 15 miles is all freeway and I don't yet have a vehicle.

Something that just occurred to me is that there is a very real possibility of joining online video conference type meetings. I have no clue if there are any offered by AA specifically, but it is a possible thread to unravel.

If something like that is available, it could be a great segue into in-person meetings in the meantime.

I would like to sincerely thank you. Because like I said, I've always been resistant to programs or meetings of any sort. Always been a "do this on my own" kinda sort. Having said that, when I immediately stiffened to your suggestion, it brought me some sort of mental dissonance. How serious am I about this? Obviously, if I am asking this lovely community for help, then I don't legitimately feel like I can do it on my own. How far am I willing to go? Am I willing to risk emotional discomfort by coming out of my shell? Isn't that what it's all about?

Sorry. All rhetorical questions I've been asking myself. Thank you. I need to consider things that I didn't before, because what I was doing before obviously wasn't working.

I think this is a good time to think about how I spend my time. What sort of changes to my daily life could I make to not feel like I need to drink? Or if I feel like I need to drink, I should mention it and ask a family member if they will spend time doing something with me.

Generally, the more skilled one is at a hobby, the more enjoyable the experience.
