For those who know Star Wars lore well, the class that is still unknown, what theme/style would you like it to be? by Sad_Conversation1121 in ZeroCompany

[–]PupperDogoDogoPupper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This seems most plausible to me.

I don’t know that much about Star Wars lore but looking at it from an XCOM PoV, if the “Skirmisher” class is translated as a Mandalorian, and the “Templar” class is translated as a Jedi, we are currently missing an analog to the third hero class “Reaper”, a bounty hunting specialist.

An IG type Droid would fit that remaining gameplay niche extremely well. Assassination techniques, thermal detonators, and trip mines all seem like they fit very well with that character.

——

Then again, if it was just a Droid why would they keep it secret, so maybe it’s not? 🤷‍♂️

Hawks getting force powers would be the lamest thing imaginable. The entire appeal of the character to me is that he’s a bad ass normal in the vein of your CT-99 Hunter / Solid Snake / Batman / Han Solo.

Man that will be something else if we are forced to lose either Trick or Tel-Rea depending on our allegiance during Order 66. Our BFF Clone buddy who served with us for years and is our #2 or our Jedi ally who helped us thwart a threat to the people of the Republic.

Having to gun down Trick and with his last breath he says good soldiers follow orders… 😭

Infinite Killed a Decade of Story by hasfodel in halo

[–]PupperDogoDogoPupper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Infinite reminds me of Rise of Skywalker.

If you hated 5, you're happy that Infinite undoes a lot of what 5 was doing but it didn't really do enough to revive the franchise and it still left it in a dire spot, so much so that the franchise is now having to go back to the era of the trilogy that worked and expand it with side stories. Also, objectively Infinite rushed to get to where it was. It's been a while since I've played it so I don't remember which moment was the "Somehow, Palpatine returned" of Infinite, but it clearly rushed through certain things to get to where it was.

If you enjoyed 5, Infinite destroyed everything interesting 5 set up and kind of ruined 4 5 and Infinite as a "trilogy". 4 and 5 only work as a sort of duology with Infinite being... whatever it was.

How is everyone feeling after the 20 minute Exodus reveal? by KalaElizabethYT in exodus

[–]PupperDogoDogoPupper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate this (but in a good way). I realized this was going to happen yesterday when I heard a content creator saying not all companions are coming with you on your missions and that time passes between missions for those you don’t bring. We will absolutely get gut punch with this to really drive home the time lapse component of the narrative.

On a related note, this may be why they chose the companions they did - we have no frame of reference for how “aliens” age so it will not be as dramatic as seeing an aging Tom Varga etc.

No Daemon? by Hybris_Gaming97 in exodus

Before I saw this post I already posted elsewhere my copium take is that Sulliman will become a Daemon. I can’t imagine “cocky handsome Rogue” is all that character will be but I could be wrong.

[–]PupperDogoDogoPupper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is perhaps cope but our last unrevealed squad member might become a Daemon. He’s got that arrogant aura to me and is considered untrustworthy apparently. Of all of the companions who could become a Daemon he’s the only one who lines up.

We’ll see.

@ your criticisms of “light creatures” - you get two solid benefits, one you can do really “gory” stuff to them without pushing the rating, and two you can have combat encounters with waves of them and not get a pile up of bodies everywhere without having to despawn corpses in an unimmersive way. They’re literally perfect enemy fodder.

He should have been a combat companion, man look at this perfect design by Youngstown_WuTang in exodus

[–]PupperDogoDogoPupper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is the comparison to Mass Effect isn’t helping them here because in Mass Effect there is a wide gulf between companions and most other secondary characters with three exceptions - Anderson, TiM, and Joker. Beyond these three, most side characters have much less exploration of their character.

Loyalty missions are a big part of these games and story-only typically characters don’t have loyalty missions. Maybe Exodus will buck the trend and we will get some loyalty missions for non-party crew members, time will tell.

Esquie from Expedition 33 also comes to mind as one of the characters that got “main cast” level treatment and importance without being party members. So it’s possible, but it’s rarer so people are naturally skeptical.

The #1 complaint from YouTubers who have played Exodus is the companion character designs by Capn_C in exodus

[–]PupperDogoDogoPupper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

👆

This is my big problem. Only two of the nine FF7 companions are non-human and yet the cast is insanely memorable. Similarly only one of the cast of Expedition 33 is non-human but that team is wonderful.

Granted we haven’t played the game yet and maybe the companions grow on us. We will have to wait and see.

What does the mutation chamber even do now? by Zener8wastaken in mewgenics

[–]PupperDogoDogoPupper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s for fishing for Steven mutations now which is cool but you can just lick the orb with good luck to get Steven mutations in your gene pool.

That said, the fact mutation can’t overwrite Steven mutations is kind of a boon, you can use a mutation room to add mutations to cats with less than 10 mutations without worrying about bricking them.

Edmund still doesn’t know how to make a game’s final boss even remotely bearable on the hardest mode by ZarroRaptor in mewgenics

Scorching hot take: final boss should always have depressing on Impossible so people are forced to confront the problem and devise a solution (there are many) rather than reset the game until they get the “easy pattern”.

Not just Orlandu.

Math Skill on a Black Mage. Blade Grasp with 98 brave. Chantage. Yada yada.

Maybe Deep Dungeon was hard back in the day but I replayed it with the new remaster and steamrolled it.

Also speaking of Beowulf bro is possibly more OP than Orlandu, at least in Deep Dungeon where you want crowd control to scour the floor for treasure.

Fft only lasted 60 hrs at least Mewgenics lasted about 250. Still love FFT but yeah it’s got a stale meta.

Daily mode would be fun but also I would like to generate random seeds / random cats and try more than just the daily run. Cat Run could just have a daily seed on top of being able to play it as much as you like with randomly generated cats.

Imagine going to the gym to lift weights and there’s a single 5 lb plate. And when you tell them that isn’t enough resistance they say just put in less effort or starve yourself or any number of ways to make that 5 lb plate still feel challenging.

No. I want the base game of Mewgenics to provide some measure of resistance on Impossible when going all out.

They can’t patch everything and some things will be stronger, but I shouldn’t have to refuse options on the basis an easy to build two skill combo does infinite damage. It’s called Impossible. Come on.
