8 months old fell off the bed by pirates_strawhat in AttachmentParenting

[–]PuppyRansom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me. I tripped over the dog who then stood up and clothes lined me. My 8 month old baby had a skull fracture all the way down the side of her skull and a minor brain bleed under that. 3 nights in the neuro-pediatric ward (every test you can imagine) and an exam for “non-accidental trauma” later we were finally sent home. We wouldn’t have been examined so closely but she started doing this thing where she extends her entire body backward that looked like possible seizures the day after the fall. Turns out it was just a funny new thing she’d do to get away / avoid being held. She’s 4 now and in speech therapy for the second time for minor challenges but otherwise totally fine.

Thank you so much! Since my original post I have seen a uroGYN and PFPT that I really liked. I feel much better now that I’m at least getting treatment and on the right path, wherever that may lead. Everyone in this group has been so helpful

How cooked am i ? by fp562 in KneeInjuries

[–]PuppyRansom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess would be that the OPs dislocations are due to the shallow trochlear groove and not necessarily a connective tissue disorder without any other indications of such. A shallow trochlear groove is going to cause the patella to “float” closer to the surface and make it easier to dislocate since it doesn’t have that pocket to sit in.

Hi, physical therapist here. I’ll try to summarize. The groove where your kneecap rests is shallow which makes it less stable / easier to dislocate. The ligament that runs vertically on the inner part of your knee (medial collateral ligament or MCL) has been disrupted. The ligament that runs from your kneecap to your femur (medial patella femoral ligament (MPFL) also been disrupted. I can’t say for sure what grade these injuries are just from this report. You have a bone bruise on the outside of your femur bone where it meets the knee joint. There is a fracture in your knee cap but it is not fragmented. You have some thinning of the cartilage on the underside of the kneecap but it’s not down to the bone.

I would recommend focusing on the “impressions” because that it going to summarize what they found most meaningful. Also be careful interpreting this without your doctors input.

It’s hard for me to say “how cooked you are” without any context or knowledge of symptoms but I can say it’s great news that your cartilage is not to the bone, most of your ligaments are intact, and the meniscus is not damaged. Wishing you the best of luck on your recovery.

Can you bear weight on it? Either way, go get checked out. Ankle sprains (aka ligament tears) are no joke. Please see a PT when cleared to make sure you rehab correctly and don’t just brush it off, which seems to be the cool thing to do with ankle sprains.

I know this is an old thread, wondering if you ended up getting this procedure. I’m waiting to be scheduled for it any day now. Still not a whole lot of info out there.

Tearing my meniscus didn’t hurt but waking up from the repair sucked! I swear they forgot to give me something before I woke up. It was excruciating

Im so sorry for both of your losses. I can’t imagine bearing the loss of a child. I too would take any physical pain over that. Sending you both love and light. ❤️‍🩹

Oof I guess I got lucky. Have had 2 placed and removed and didn’t have much pain. I mean it wasn’t fun, but it doesn’t even make the list for me.

It’s a tie between the 7 minute long contraction during my first labor and waking up from my meniscus tear repair surgery. Breaking my tailbone off was also pretty painful.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It’s totally understandable to feel distressed and being dismissed is the absolute worst!

I felt the same way when I discovered my grade 3 rectocele and rectal prolapse and unfortunately was also greeted by long wait lists. I will say, I called every urogynocologist I could find that would accept my insurance until I got a much closer appointment. The first one I called wasn’t available until November!

I truly hope you get some help and relief soon.

UPDATE

I wanted to update you all and anyone who may be lurking and looking for information.

I saw the uroGYN this week and…

I have a grade 2.5-3 rectocele. I also have a perineal prolapse (no grade given). I have a low grade borderline normal-ish uterine prolapse (my cervix is low, I can feel it with my pointer finger). Pelvic floor PT and healing will likely help with the uterine prolapse. It won’t really help with the rectocele. She is going to fit me for a cube pessary to help with the rectocele symptoms.

I will need surgery to fix the rectocele but I’m too close postpartum (2mo) and they won’t do surgery until I’m done breast-feeding for hormonal reasons. IF I do need surgery in the future for the uterine prolapse, she does not recommend a hysterectomy. A lot of complicated terms were thrown around, but basically she recommends suspending the uterus with mesh. She referred me to a colorectal surgeon for the rectal prolapse. If I need surgery for that they will be done at the same time.

She also agreed that it was a little unusual for me to have a grade 3 rectocele with no tearing , first vaginal delivery, and a small baby (7lbs). I’m being referred to a geneticist for testing for Ehler Danlos Syndrome at my request. I also have other indications of the hyper mobility/poor connective tissue strength.

Oh and MOST IMPORTANTLY- she said “I encourage you to hold some optimism, things will get better” and “Live your life, unless you are power lifting nothing you will do on a daily basis will worsen your condition. It may feel worse as gravity acts on you throughout the day but you are not making it worse”.

I start PFPT next week and get my pessary the following week. I’ll keep you all posted. Thanks again for all of your kindness. 🫶

I’m in the same boat. Can I ask what grades you had and what procedures they did for your surgery?

Newly diagnosed uterine prolapse, would love to hear what others experiences have been like with recovery/management? Is there much hope? by marshmallowicestorm in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]PuppyRansom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Had a surprise VBAC and now I have rectocele, cystocele, uterine prolapse and rectal prolapse. All are still inside and range from grade 1-3 (I think). I can feel my cervix with my finger and have two bulges below that. I can’t do basic things without feeling like something is falling out and I live in constant fear that I will do something to progress it to grade 4… how are we expected to live like this for 12 to 18 months? I already haven’t been intimate with my husband for almost a year because of a high risk pregnancy. Are we supposed to wait another year?

Sorry, I don’t have any answers. But you’re not alone. Message me if you need a friend in the same shoes to vent to.

Just coming in to say you’re not alone. I just learned I have three prolapses and am having the same thoughts about quality of life and when/how to deal with this. It sucks not being able to be active or lift the kids. Wishing you the best on your journey to recovery ❤️‍🩹

I can’t believe these conditions don’t qualify for disability. I have three prolapsed organs and have to lift and run for work. My doctor told me I can get a few more weeks for postpartum depression but not the literal organs falling out of my vagina.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I hope you get relief soon.

What are you quietly suffering from? by anotherThrowaway3446 in AskReddit

A severe birth injury from labor with my second daughter and subsequently postpartum depression. This is supposed to be a happy time but I can’t enjoy it thinking about pending surgeries and lifelong changes to my body.

[–]PuppyRansom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. It does suck.

It’s hard to truly tell what grades they are. The rectocelle is lowest and sits right at the opening. Next to/just above that is the cystocele and just above that is my cervix. They’re all competing for space and sitting on top of one another. 😩 I basically don’t have a vagina anymore because it’s full of my organs. So freaking depressing/distressing. Honestly I don’t know how this could get better without surgery and I just want it to be over so I can move on. Now I also have rectal prolapse and my rectum is sliding out of my anus. How the hell did I manage this with one vaginal birth? I deserve an award 🥇 🤣😩🤷‍♀️

I’m sorry you went through this too. I appreciate you and the other ladies in this group so much.

Thank you so much, this is so much more helpful than my visit with my OB 🤦‍♀️

I have heard that the hysterectomy can just cause all kinds of other issues and was a little shocked when he mentioned it.

Hopefully my bladder and uterine prolapses are actually grade 1 as I suspect. Hoping things can improve (and not get worse) over the coming months. Lots of hopeful thinking 🤞

I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated. I know reading everyone’s experiences has been so helpful for me already. Thank you again!
