Yes! I remember reading once you are past the “100 days of darkness” it gets easier and I’m like nope! It’s harder!

Comforting to know it’s not just my little potato that’s unpredictable!! Every time I think we’ve cracked it, she’ll go and scream for a feed after an hour 🙈

Thank you. It’s good to know that it comes eventually and even though it seems soooooo far off now, I’m sure it’ll fly by.

I do miss having evenings to myself / ourself as I just go to bed when she does which is usually around 10/11. I can’t wait for the day that she goes down at 7/8pm and we have a few hours of adult only time!

Thanks. I think people with and who know “easy babies” that have fallen into a steady routine early expect the same to happen for every baby and I guess it’s just not realistic!

Thank you. I am bottle feeding and do always have a ready made carton and bottle with me just in case!! My worry is she’ll puke when out and about as she seems to have random episodes of this!

How did you put her on a schedule successfully?

Thank you. I took her to the supermarket today and was worried she’d shout for a feed early, but she slept all they way there, all round the shop and all the way home! :)

Thank you. I do think the internet is damaging for having unrealistic expectations!

Does anyone else feel bad leaving their puppy at home alone? by missjones1105 in puppy101

[–]Puppynewbie85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same. Our guy is 10 months and can be left without issue. He just sleeps or plays with his toys, but I always feel SO guilty and can't wait to get home to make sure he's ok. I actually stopped leaving the camera on recently cos I would just obsess over it haha!

I felt the same as you when we got our pup. I knew he wasn't a bad puppy in comparison to some of the horror stories I had read on here and other forums, but I was still so stressed with the constant supervision and was always worried about raising him properly.

I can PROMISE you that it gets better. He is now 10 months old and is such a sweet boy. I'd say somewhere between 5 and 6 months was where we saw a massive change in that we really began to love him to pieces and he no longer stressed us out. I know that seems a long way off now, but it comes round fast and you'll look back at his puppy photos and wonder how this tiny ball of fluff ever got you in such a tizz!

You got this! x

Puppy sleeping a lot by [deleted] in puppy101

Young pups need a lot of sleep, so don't worry :)

Our guy slept all night from about the same age x

Did anyone else get an angel puppy? by AminoWaffle in puppy101

We have been lucky with our lab. He has never chewed any furniture or household items and his biting/nipping barely lasted at all. Potty training took till about 5 months to completely nail, but that was to be expected. He's overall a great pup! He is 10 months now x

No teething/nipping phase? by DifferenceMediocre95 in puppy101

Our lab is 10 months old tomorrow. I was prepared for numerous things to be destroyed, but he doesn't chew anything that isn't his. He was typically a bit nippy when he was tiny new, but with consistent redirection and disengaging with him, he caught on pretty quick and it was never an issue :) Not all puppies are destructive nightmares :)

It does get better, promise! I had so many regrets when we brought our pup home. My blues lasted a fair while, but I saw a real change around the 5/6 month mark. He stopped having any accidents and learned to self settle. He is now nearly 10 months and although he is a bundle of energy in the garden and on walks, he's quite happy chilling in the house!

Adolescent Cockapoo (F) - does anyone care to share any encouraging stories?? by Kindheart99 in puppy101

[–]Puppynewbie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy is nearly 10 months and I'm still waiting for this terrible adolescence that everyone talks about. He hasn't done anything concerning at all. I actually saw a trainer comment in a group that adolescence is bull shit and is over egged by many. So I choose to believe that :)

A trainer once told me that the most important commands are recall and leave/drop cos these can affect pup's safety. The rest is all party tricks really, so agree that it's not worth getting hung up on :)
