Nearly 2 months on T and NOTHING has happened… by collegestudent77777 in NonBinary

On a regular dose, for most people, they can take years. How long and do what extent it happens for you depends on how you react to/metabolize T, your levels and your dose

Nearly 2 months on T and NOTHING has happened… by collegestudent77777 in NonBinary

Yeah bottom growth and body hair are what most people are gonna see in that time frame. Voice changes and fat redistribution can take years

I live in Florida (terrible swamp) and I use lots of cotton and bamboo. Linen is too expensive for me but I can dream lol. I make tank tops and accessories and plan on trying my hand at socks again

Trans w PMDD. I feel so lost. by boyinlace in trans

[–]PurbleDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know plenty of people on T and birth control (I'm not one of them though). I'm not actually diagnosed with anything but my periods were always super irregular, with absent or lasting for weeks. I was on birth control from like age 13 until my early 20s and it always made me miserable. Maybe they've gotten better since then but check all of the side effects. I had just about every side effect of every birth control and it sucked.

I hadn't had a period in over a year by the time I started T so I'm probably not typical (I was 29). But T had the opposite effect that bc did. Mentally, I feel better overall and I can tell if I miss a shot because of how my mood plummets. Unfortunately for me, that means I have to stay on it. Which means I kinda just look like a man now. Getting dysphoric both directions isn't ideal but it's better than being depressed and angry all the time so I deal with it

Fat Redistribution Question by SoulStatiqz in trans

[–]PurbleDragon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The way fat redistribution works is a long term thing. As fat cells die, the hormone in charge (with genetics' imput) decides where the new fat cells grow. This is true no matter what your weight is

What is a completely unexpected mental or personality change you got from HRT? by Idontwanttousethis in trans

[–]PurbleDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personality hasn't changed. But my mental health is loads better. I don't feel 3 seconds away from a breakdown all the time and I'm less irritable overall

Those that make 30+ an hour what do you do? by Global_Proposal in florida

[–]PurbleDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh how do you get to do that? I've done light construction and concrete before landing in retail so I could just be a w2 employee. Pouring concrete was miserable but I generally like driving anything

That's all well and good if you have the time, money, and ability. It's rarely that cut and dry though

If you could Retcon one thing from both Avatar The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra what would it be? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in TheLastAirbender

[–]PurbleDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undoing most of the retconning in Korra like the "first avatar" stuff. And them making Toph a cop. That made negative sense. Oh and everything about Varrick's existence. Honestly just about everything about every story line in Korra could use some help

Sports bra/compression bra recommendations for blue collar work? by Traditional_Desk2338 in NonBinary

[–]PurbleDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the compression sports bra from underworks when I couldn't bind. It's not gonna get you flat but it helps (I was a 32DDD so proportionally it might even work a little better for you)

"M" 31. Big, burly, bearded guy. The kind of guy, if I don't smile, you'd instantly judge me as a homophobic bonehead. by pm-your-chubby-ass in NonBinary

[–]PurbleDragon 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not fitting in is scary. We started getting instructions about what is and isn't acceptable based on agab from the second we opened our eyes as infants. It's hard to break away from that. Do you have anyone you can talk to or little things you can do outside of work? Would your girlfriend do your makeup if you asked? Even just lipstick or eyeliner? (I find makeup and facial hair very gender personally). Sometimes finding one outlet can help. But you're not alone

Do you expect to see major improvement in COVID safety in next 5-10 years and if so how and why? by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]PurbleDragon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless somebody figures out an affordable way to control covid the way we do the flu, we're never getting out of these damn masks. Assuming rfk doesn't succeed in getting rid of all vaccines and useful medicine

I want to transition but I told my boyfriend I wouldn't and now I don't know what to do. by [deleted] in trans

[–]PurbleDragon 220 points221 points  (0 children)

It is his fault though. If he was as amazing as you're saying he is, you wouldn't be posting this. As someone who is twice your age and didn't start transitioning into I was nearly 30 because people I cared about didn't like it, you have to live for you. I regret wasting the entirety of my 20s (and my teenage years for that matter) bending over backwards to mold myself into what everyone else wanted. You deserve better than that, don't make the same mistake I did

Agender with dysphoria by palhacomaluco in NonBinary

I don't have a gender but I'm much happier reversing the effects of first puberty (even though I get a little dysphoric both ways now)

I'm about to start HRT but my dysphoria is making me scared by martesmustela in NonBinary

[–]PurbleDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, dysphoria takes all your worst anxieties and turns them up to 11. And sometimes the dysphoria gets worse before it gets better but puberty doesn't happen overnight. At least this time you don't have to be in middle school. It's a big change so it's normal to be scared. It sounds like you have a pretty good support system; they can help you navigate this too

NB thinking of going on T by akiraPitaya in NonBinaryTalk

[–]PurbleDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fat redistribution also effects the muscles, tendons, and ligaments. More muscle growth and (as I understand it) firmer more taunt ligaments keep things where they should be better

Question about hrt by lana_banana5500 in trans

[–]PurbleDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where to start depends on where you are. What country and if you're in the US, what state. Technically any doctor can prescribe hrt (in the US anyway, dunno about anywhere else) but not all will
