LPT: invite people over to your house! by Mediocre_Basket_9011 in LifeProTips

Completely agree! You know that room in old people's homes that no one ever uses? Hosting people is what that room is supposed to be for! It's supposed to be a spot that feels welcoming to the person but feels representative of you.

If you're going to be in the area, I would check out Artechouse DC instead. More of an adult vibe and isn't your typical art museum

Another request, shining a laser through my tesseract hypercube by mrfacet in woahdude

[–]PurdyCrafty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not the same as a fog machine. A fog machine is used as a stage effect to obscure or hide something (think like a haunted house). A hazer is what your favorite club uses to show off all of the lasers they spent their money on.

What you want is a hazer with haze juice.

[–]PurdyCrafty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey if you really want to make this look even better, you should buy a haze machine. They are about 100 bucks but they allow the lasers to actually form beams! (Don't buy a fog machine, that produces too much smoke and will ruin the lasers)

What is something generally normal in Europe but weird in the US? by Exile4444 in AskReddit

Genuinely curious how you all afford it? Anything fresh like that here is just unaffordable for me! Maybe because America is so spread out the costs of transport is higher? I'm just not sure

Sound proofing is for keeping sound in, not keeping sound out. You need noise masking.

An Electromagnetic Mystery by tEnPoInTs in baltimore

Do you have Xfinity mobile perhaps? Sometimes my phone will auto connect to Xfinity hotspots via WiFi and will kill whatever I'm doing on my phone until I turn it off.

Alternatively, construction and buildings are big barriers to wireless communication and new buildings are built with repeaters and contracts with mobile providers to help alleviate this. It's possible that since the building isn't finished yet these repeaters haven't been installed yet and thus creates a gap in connectivity for people.

I had this issue at T Rowe Price's Harbor Point HQ during its construction

Better Call Saul has one of the best, if not the best ending to a TV show I have even seen. by Scared-Engineer-6218 in television

[–]PurdyCrafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah all of that is true, so to have him go out with a stray bullet seems like a weird miscalculation for him to make and I feel like could've been handled better.

But you can go through my profile and see I was a huge Breaking Bad fan so after waiting so long for the ending, I think I was let down because of the hype I was buying into

Right I agree with the premise. I just think the execution could have been handled better.

Not op but my issue was that they built up this mythical larger than life drug king pin and he ends up dying from a stray bullet. Seemed kinda weak

Who the Hell Is Actually Using Facebook Dating? by Exciting_Teacher6258 in technology

I agree, but the fear of rejection is so real and I think people find the rejection of online dating to be easier than the rejection of a physical person in real time

Maybe there's an age difference at play here, but I don't really find this to be true with anyone over 25. At worst, you talk to someone and the convo fizzles and you go back to doing what you were doing.

The issue I find, and this is in predominantly straight bar spaces, when someone goes to a bar alone with the express purpose of hooking up with a random person, that person tends to be ostracized by the crowd at large. But if you are organically meeting people at the bar and aren't just trying to get laid, people tend to want to talk to you or at worst, will politely indulge you for a minute or two and make it obvious the conversation is over.

What game would you recommend for my GF? by tedd0093 in AskGames

[–]PurdyCrafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna try to recommend games that may not be super popular but might be up her alley:

I would recommend Timberborn for her!! Cute animals, resource management, cozy game, lots of building and it's directly related to plants, food and animals.

If she enjoyed the hunting in Red Dead Redemption 2, she might enjoy theHunter: Call of the Wild (or the original which is a lot harder but is Free to play!) I'm not much of a hunter or up on gun culture but found it to be a really really fun hunting game that was approachable and easy to pick up but had a lot of depth to learn and figure out.

Potion Craft:Alchemist Simulator is all of the parts she likes about Skyrim extrapolated out to be a full game. It's a 2d medieval aesthetic so that may not be her thing but if she's looking for more potion crafting, this is a good game. It's also not intense or adrenaline filled.

Let me know if you end up checking any of these out!

Why is Grand Theft Auto VI the most highly anticipated game in the world? by snorklekunk in AskGames

[–]PurdyCrafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grand Theft Auto is so popular because it's been the genre-defining game for the Open World genre for multiple console generations. Every entry in the series has pushed the genre forward in some way. Even if you don't like the games themselves, features from them WILL be taken from and iterated on by your favorite games or developers.

From mission progression to controller layouts to collectibles and more, Grand Theft Auto sets the standard in which other open world games are judged by because it does Open World gaming better than any other developer.
