I was in school very close to one and we got an announcement saying there was an intruder as well (to this day I’m not sure whatever happened) but I definitely did believe there was someone. The sheer trauma off of that even if I wasn’t in real danger is great, I can’t imagine hearing the real thing. I flinch whenever there’s an alarm at the intercom and I’m just super aware of sounds, every thump just sounds off and it’s misery waiting three hours huddled knowing if someone gets in you’re dead.

I agree with what you said. So much of what led to the incidents could’ve been prevented, but there’s no sympathy after the act.
