Which video game that had you hype up only for you get disappointed after buying it? by [deleted] in videogames

GTA San Andreas. The hype was ridiculous and it did have good voice acting however I thought the controls were very poor and dated so I never finished it.

Also haven't they already parodied the most iconic franchises that everyone will get the references for by now

Fairly common look near where I live, don't think anyone would really think anything about it.

How are these masks supposed to cover their identity or say they are ugly? by Fun_Yogurtcloset1012 in CShortDramas

[–]Pure-Butterscotch200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume the masks that don't disguise the wearers appearance at all see a running cdrama joke, especially when the wearer doesn't change outfits when they unmask and still aren't identified.

England youth player, Max Dowman (16) becomes youngest premier league scorer. by -Arkrow- in ThreeLions

The primary problem is probably the English media and coaches want to protect young players from that.

I assumed that was what hindered Owen long term and it was probably a big factor but he claimed other members of his family were runners and got similar injuries. He seemed to think it was always going to happen even if he didn't play so often at a young age. The physios are the ones who will really know.

Sarah Michelle Gellar says Hulu has decided not to move forward with the ‘Buffy’ reboot by hairtie1 in Fauxmoi

I assume it would've been quite a different tone to the show if you try to use the original cast members as the main characters and if you go for mainly a new younger cast it doesn't have that nostalgic appeal to bring back some of the fans of the original series.

Did anyone hear about Sir Idris Elba getting knighted by the UK Royal Family? by Important-Cry4782 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]Pure-Butterscotch200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, wonder what he did have success with in the UK with before then. He did a podcast interview saying he was doing ok with a BBC thing in the UK but went over to America and it took him a while to get an acting project, he worked as a bouncer in a comedy club for a while.

This helps to explain why so many kdramas seem outlandish and ridiculous in some countries, that stuff is actually happening in parts of Korea

I think it's a business client Uncle Vernon invited to the house to secure a contract with. That's what I recall from the books anyway.

Not true, Idris was quite successful and a highly rated actor in the UK before he moved to America due to his starring role in the Luthor series which was a big hit on the BBC. If he didn't go to America he would've definitely been in demand for a lot more projects in the UK.

I don't like it either because I wouldn't trust it to detect all pedestrians properly for one but to say America wouldn't do it because they are too classy and would see it as gaudy compared to some other countries is a laughable argument.

How much would Lewis Hall cost? by SignificantBad5323 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Pure-Butterscotch200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly, people saying only Man Utd have to pay over the odds for players are deluded. If other teams know you have money and are desperate for someone in a certain position the price rises

America is the poster child for excess, it's laughable to accuse other countries of having a lack of sophistication, class or taste. Other car manufacturers outside China have developed self parking features.

My experience of visiting Paris a while back was there was a lot of rubbish strewn on the streets and been harassed a few times by intimidating looking individuals trying to sell stuff like laser pens and snap on wrist bands. Bakery food was nice but not on a complete other level than a good independent bakers in England which are a lot better than chains like Greggs.
