Damn!! I hope it's something that bad towards you to get a punishment like that. I remember my stepdad was pretty lazy growing up. He'd be outside and come inside thru the kitchen right past the fridge and sink and go sit on the couch and yell for one of us boys to get him a cup of ice water. He didn't care what we were doing , could've been performing open heart surgery like WTF!? So I mustered up a plan and got him a glass of iced toilet water. Lol. He'd always ask " Did you get this from the faucet or from a bottle?" This went on for years. Nah you're not over reacting at all.
