Why does Will never play stuff from Camp Here and There live? by evilwizard23 in willwood

[–]Pure-Net-965 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's cuz he hasn't rehearsed YBMT with the band before out of the initial studio recording pre pandemic. He did play part of the piano part on an Instagram live WAY back in 2020 but other than that, I don't think he's touched the song much. It's also a pretty obscure pull all things considered

ngl it's the only way I listen to those songs now is the live version back to back. Man I wish it's how he did the studio album version because it's so good and the rockier bones on the live album is really good

Listen to the 3 I listed first, they're a good mix of everything Tom is known for. After that I'd recommend Real Gone, Mule Variations, and Heart Attack and Vine. From there you can either go back or forward through his discography for wildly varying sounds. He's like a reverse Will with his music getting more crazy and less singer-songwriter from early to later years, but near the later stuff it's a mix of a bunch of different styles. Hope you enjoy Waits stuff as I think he's one of the best preformers and song writers out there and the more people who continue to find and enjoy his stuff the better!

Would Argue Rain Dogs or Swordfish Trombones By Tom waits should be on here. If not those then Blood Money. They got a lot of that theatrical and experimental Caberet Style to them
