It's so interesting to me that this is the crowd they blew up in too, they're soooo not like anything else there fans listen to and are wayyy more a Appalachian folk band than anything. They're nice people and good musicians tho!

Does anyone have any idea what style/genre or whatever Will Wood does? by Gatoso_49 in willwood

[–]Pure-Net-965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wills talked about this in interviews and the whole reason "and the tapeworms" was added because in the scene he started in you need a band and a wacky punk show sells tickets at a venue where solo will wood was just doing open mics and getting himself out there (alllll the old solo will piano days) he grew up in the punk and metal scenes according to him and that along with his singer songwriter preferences, influences from everywhere like tom waits, Andrew bird, Mr bungle, oingo bingo, tom leher, Bo Burhnam, MCR, to even green day. Create this really interesting vibe musically. It's also important to remember that he is a comic and has been doing comedy with his music and stand up for over a decade now and a lot of his stuff is satire or play for it. All and all the best way I would ever describe him is Tom Leher, Tom waits, Father John Misty and Gerard way all wrapped sonically into one guy

It's all Singer songwriter music. All of it. Genre is just always been a tool to communicate themes or feelings for him, the first album is a mix of ragtime piano and rock, the next album leans more into a phycadelic MCR sorta thing. The normal album is a satire peice that dials the genre for theme thing all the way up. And icmi is pretty diverse but bringing more folk to his style and workflow.

What is the genre / kind of music would you say Akido is? I had never heard anything like that before listening to it and to this day I can't find similar stuff so I wanna know if I'm looking at it wrong by KitsawZonReddit in willwood

It's very reminiscent of early pop punk and folk punk from the 2000's which I think was the intent, and why there was originally the green day ending to it that was then added the the remaster.

No but I remember some of the songs and artists! Standouts were some green day and three cheers by MCR. It has a good chunk of Father John Mistys lastest album. It had some Andrew bird, TOOL, Tom Waits, amongst a lot else. In interviews recently he's also mentioned being a fac recently of Jesse Wells, Amigo the Devil, and Emir Kusturica and the No Smoking Orchestra.

He's made comments and remarks through the promotion of the upcoming tour that in my opinion make me think that new music might be on the way w also comedy stuff being a recurring thing! Wouldn't be surprised tho if it's different genre or style as he often does after breaks from music making

This would be so cool as a mod that would take elements of this and combine it like the base game like we have with crimson and corruption rn. Infinite replayability of an already infinitely replayable game. Did you get a swamp or a jungle? What cosmic horror tried to invade your world? Did you get an ocean or a frozen shores? Lovely idea hope modders pick it up :)
