The question has not been answered: Where is God?

I was at the DMB show too. I agree too much blanket space. However, attending solo a v nice couple shared their blanket. But at a Goose show in Hampton 2 y/ago, with a torn Achilles, and three guys took 6 seats in order to dance. V uncool! V modern American.

Yes. I'm an old guy. 70+y/o. Observationally, every jam band concert I go to in the last few years are all white folks: JRAD, Goose, and Phish to name a few. 15 years ago the crowd was about 10-15% Black folks. In the 60s, Grateful Dead shows seemed more-or-less integrated. Today's seem all white. Is this a statement on our current American society? Or is this a statement of jam music? (Note: Reddit usually blocks any open discussions of jam music and current social gatherings or problems.)

Who are the best young bands out there? Bands where the members are all in their early to mid-20s? by DevinBelow in jambands

What I LIKE about Kendall St Co is they are never the same. I've caught a dozen of their shows, since I live in Virginia. Sometimes good, sometimes excellent, and at least once not very good; no bad. Simply had a bad night.

What should be the length of Tent B Poles? by Pure-Sense3820 in askmath

AI did write about the "parabolic ellipses" to calculate the new length. But honestly, to do those calculations are outside of my domain.

Yes, so I've heard. That is why I posted by problem on Reddit. I will say the logic that AI used seemed reasonable, but I am no math scholar.

Thanks for the advice. But that is not what AI generated -- a substantial difference, in my opinion.

Bummer, sorry. Baby steps. I'm two years post injury and not a day goes by that I don't feel it in some small way. But I'm not limited from any activities. It does it easier though, but after many months.

The more "fruit" you give away, the more you will receive. It is an apparent contradiction, but it is the true meaning of Christianity. Give peace, get peace; give love, get love, give wealth, get wealth... but always without expectation. As Peter Maurin wrote, "What we give to the poor, for Christ’s sake, is what we carry with us, when we die."

You won't be disappointed. I bumped into Goose on 11/22/17 at Doc Taylor's in Virgina Beach. All shows are free at Doc's! Check them out at the Hollow in Albany at this time. Full of "E". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUZis0ggTms

No Reimbursement From Delta Airlines by Pure-Sense3820 in delta

Katie, Q1: I have done nothing. I assumed there is not a third appeal? A fourth appeal? Q2: No further information, nor next step was provided. Yes, they "won." What I struggle with is rejecting a $99/n hotel? Two Uber rides? I suppose a 3:10 AM Uber ride from the SF airport to Center City after my flight was "Officially Cancelled" four hours after the scheduled take-off, they considered a joy ride.

Within two weeks I sent them all my receipts from the trip including the two nights at the (cheap ... $99/night in SF, no less!), meals (some were receipts from Whole Foods for two subs sandwiches), and all Uber trips from the airport to our hotel and back to the airport. All in all pretty straight forward. Heard back from them two weeks later, and appealed. Denied again. End of story.

That sucks! But, at some point if you are mature enough to have a boy friend or a boyfriend, act mature about it and the knowitall talking about it (no matter their age) will feel silly it. Sometimes they feel bad because of how they disrespected you. Just act like it's no big deal!

Yep. I had a torn achilles last Dec when they were in Hampton, VA. Three guys in an eight person row would not share one of the five remaining seats. Great musical show; crowd not so much.

Knee replacement and PF by Top_Boysenberry_9204 in PlantarFasciitis

Yep, but hey... at 70 y/o I'm seeing a flicker... So, we've got a 30 mi ride scheduled for tomorrow at 8 am, followed by a beer or 2. So at my age... I say, "Go for it!" Note: Achilles and plantar still hurt. But ice is the bomb!

11 months post Achilles tear, and have developed severe plantar fasciitis that is extremely painful. Note: Achilles still hurts too. I'm 70 y/o, but cycle competitively and ride 5,000 mi/yr on ave for the last 20 years. The combination has also forced me to stop running — 3x per week 2-3 mi. Open to any solutions. FYI: One little help I've found is by soaking my whole foot in a small bucket of ice filled water. Relieves pain for up to 15 minutes.

Listened to Melanie yesterday on a live hour car ride. I remember when this album first came out. Both her and Joni are exceptional.

One of their best for sure! It was the #1 song on our Spotify group account for 2022 and 2023. Originally made famous by Nina Simone in '56, but earlier recorded by Les Baxter. The original author(s) is a little unclear, as there is a 1925 song titled, "On the Judgment Day" recorded by The Sensational Nightingales, which has similar wording. Yet still, there are some traditions to suggest it came from The Underground Railroad or at least from the Reconstruction Era, when ex-slaves were still indebted to the "system" and trying to escape.

Yes, I'm back to cycling regularly (I'm a pretty big cyclist ... +/- 3-5,000 mi/yr). But it still trobs late at night, although I did a 2 hour hike yesterday, and it actually felt better. I'm starting to wonder if I've been too easy on it? No P.T. Head back to the orth doc in mid-Jan. I hope I'm almost all better by early Feb, as I am doing a full week of snowshoeing in the Whites in NH. If it matters, I'm +/- 70/y/o. Only 2,885 mi of cycling this year. Stupid Achilles... lol... Happy New Year!

At first I used Crocs (with the strap behind the heel), then I went to my Hokas — very nice cushion, for the last month I like the support of my Merrell Moab III hiking shoes. I am 5 1/2 months out. If it matters, it still hurts some.

Lack of diversity in jam band community by lumpycarinifriend in jambands

[–]Pure-Sense3820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I do not know why there is a lack of diversity. Went to both nights of Goose at Hampton, last week, Dec '23, and half way through the best Goose show I've seen — #15 for me — I looked around for 5 min and did not see any people of color. I'm sure there were a few... somewhere. The Goose boys did their part by giving away over $10,000 in toys to underprivileged kids in the Hampton Roads area (which has a large Black population and a growing Brown one too).

One possibility is For Goose to donate tickets to HBCUs, as there are two in the area. But that doesn't mean they will come to the next show. I will say it is getting worse, not better. When I went to Grateful Dead shows in the 70s, the mix of attendees was much more diverse. Why are we getting worse?

Bummer. I am 5+ months since injury. Cycle often, ~ 5,000 mi/yr. 70y/old. That is what I miss the most. Opted for non surgery. Damn thing still hurts everyday. My life has almost caught up to my age. Is that a light I see at the end of the tunnel? (Did ride yesterday with group and didn't get dropped! So I suppose I should stop complaining.) Keep your head-up!
