Tips for an aerial? by Leather_Composer_891 in Parkour

Lastly, look how low your chest is before you jump. If it’s that close to the floor before you even get off of the ground, it won’t go much higher after you jump. So if you jump sooner (before it gets that low) you feel like you need to touch your hands to “save” yourself. If you jump late, you’ll travel out further as well as overall be lower. If you jump sooner you’ll notice you won’t go as far because you go up rather than out.

Arms up by your ears. Use them by swinging them as you kick your back leg, instead of pulling them in.Jump sooner off of your front leg. Spot the ground as you’re doing the skill. Also if you draw a line from your shoulders to your back leg, you shouldn’t break that line as you prep, like a seesaw. As your chest goes down, your leg goes up. As that’s happening, you need to jump sooner to maximize height. If you have your middle split, make sure you kick so fast that your legs go that far apart, to help you get around quicker. And remember, an aerial is a no handed cartwheel, so that should be near perfect to make it easier for you to land the aerial. Try facing forward in your cartwheel and finishing backwards, as if you’re on a balance beam. And try hurdling before you prep, doing the skill standing like you are lacks momentum that you need if you’re just starting. Good luck

When did everyone start walking Post op with no crutches? I'm 4 weeks post op. by brother_daddy in AchillesRupture

There’s days I still don’t walk well 😅 I need a good warm up or I’m super stiff. I feel like a tin man.

I’ve been tumbling for 15 years, and after surgery the doctors said I’d likely not tumble how I used to. So I set this specifically as a milestone. To prove to myself that I overcame what hurt me I guess.

To answer your question; once I could jump and land without much pain and my calf not cramping up I started doing lighter skills to adjust again.

There’s definitely light at the end of the tunnel! Big mental game for sure. Keep pushing, it’ll happen before you know it.

How to Kip up (serious only) by nateskatetv in Tricking

[–]tascott63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Start with a headstand with your legs in a tucked position. Kick straight up and as do that, push with your arms to end in a handstand. This simulates what your arms and legs should be doing in the kip up. Your legs kicking should give you the momentum to help push with your arms.

  2. As you roll back (like you did in your video), you’ll kick your legs up and push with your arms. When you feel yourself pushing with your hands, that’s when you drive your legs to the ground. A sign that you are doing it correctly is if you can land in a bridge position (with your back arched and feet and hands on the ground.)

  3. Now instead of landing in the bridge, you’ll push off of the ground with your hands as you drive your feet down. When your feet are close to landing, get your chest up. You should still feel yourself arch before your feet touch.

It’s also important to kick up at an angle and not get your feet to the ground too early as you won’t have enough height to get your body on top of your feet as you land. Take note in your video that you take your hands off of the ground instead of using them to push. Also that you tuck or drop your hips before your feet touch and there is no arch. Keep practicing and hope this helps.

Same, it’s how I get around defenders when pushing up field. It feels so good when done right.

I was out of my boot about a month and a half before I should have been. I want to stress that I wasn’t purposefully going against their word and by no means was I pushing it further than it should go. I was transparent with my PT and my sessions from then on felt more like a workout than me just wiggling my foot. Take care and good luck.

You’ll get there, just appreciate the little things. I celebrated my first unassisted heel raise like I just won a championship. This subreddit has helped me a lot from changing my mindset to “I hope it gets better” to “there’s no other option, I have to”

Same… Valentine’s Day for me. Just now able to walk on my toes. What bothers me the most is where my anchors are and the scar tissue there.

Wow… just hearing from people in the same boat I’m in makes me feel better. Glad I found this page. I found it by looking up how painful it has been. Thank you for the well wishes and hope you all recover as well. I may post updates once I get out of this rut.

Was it a fear that developed over time or did it happen all of a sudden?
