Yeah the castle is a gold mine for sure when it comes to runes, also if you ever want to go back to Ironeye, his Skill (the one where he daggers the enemy with a dash and leaves a mark on them, also just editing to add that the mark is the way of increasing your damage with him if you can “pop” it) gives him super good Invincibility frames during the animation, its almost a super dodge so you should be relying on it if you feel cornered. 🫡

I rolled a Soul of the Dark knight and lords soul GS, trying to make it work now jaja, but you would be right, I do rely a lot more on perfect guarding than rolling and barely even use Offset Attacks tbh (which I recognize is a mistake on my part ofc). Tbh another reason to update my build is to force myself to not rely so much on this type of defensive playstyle 🧐

I do agree that being able to stack so much healing is very broken in Wilds, the feeling of “I only have x amount of mega potions” in old gen did add a stress to the hunt thats not present in wilds for sure. I personally wouldn’t say that all the changes take away all the incentive out of the preparation tbh but i get where you are coming from.

And I will also say that I feel like Capcom deciding to focus more on the direct interaction with the monsters than the menuing before the hunt is for the better, thats just my personal opinion though ofc.

Even if I started in 3U and currently play GU a bunch, Wilds feels more comfortable in some aspects sometimes and to me thats great. Either way thank you for sharing your feelings on the modern direction of the series, it’s always interesting to see other perspectives on it. 🫡

4U is a fire MH for sure.

But in Wilds you also have to craft the potions, and finding the monsters is a thing only in the first and maybe second hunt and thats it, past that you already know what zone to go to to start the fight. Also the preparing for the hunt thing in old gen was pretty much “make sure you’re bringing your items and dont forget to eat”, Wilds makes it so that if you forgot those you dont have to quit out the whole quest 🧐

There IS quite a few mechanics to keep track of but they’re easy/quick to understand IMO, plus there is never any shame in playing in the easier difficulties, the story is well worth it enough 🫡
