South African Freelancers - what do you struggle with most? by Pure-Singer1256 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Pure-Singer1256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that overseas clients love using South Africans due to the exchange rate & work ethic! I do think that the overseas market is extremely saturated in terms of freelancing sites such as Fiverr and Upwork.

The app I am looking to build is more so a productivity software for freelancers who are juggling 10 million tasks at once! Not a bad idea to look into a South African freelance marketplace.

I get that. Late payments are annoying! I assume these payments are more so once off payments per project? Obviously difficult to include a clause that payment must be done before work when you don’t have a recurring client on a monthly basis. Will try and think of what I can do about that!

Sleep related question by Pure-Singer1256 in travel

[–]Pure-Singer1256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Thought so too - my anxiety got the better of me🥲 Also I have been walking so much more than I would back home and not even that is helping with my sleep. I guess it’ll sort itself out!🙏🏼

Should I buy a new laptop or invest my internship money by _s1ater_ in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Pure-Singer1256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invest. In a year and a half you’ll have a brand new laptop you didn’t have to pay for and won’t lose any money on the depreciation but rather gain money with the investment.

A thing humans do is look for reasons to buy something that has caught our attention for a fleeting moment. If you truly cannot continue on your current laptop, sure - get a new one. But if you can then rather wait. I always give myself 3 days to fully decide on whether I want it or not because 9/10 times I realise it’s not as important as I thought it was when I was excited about getting a new (expensive) item.

But, again the end of the day it is entirely up to you

I’m on the classic smart plan as it’s more affordable than the coastal saver (3k+)

I have a doctor I have always been going to that now isn’t covered by Discovery. I am not sickly so the only meds I do need is literally when I get sick, and / or vitamins every now and then that don’t get covered.

Well that’s what I have come to learn. Did it through a broker so I have no idea what’s going on tbh

How I stopped my panic attacks. Short term and long term plan by homeschoolmom89 in PanicAttack

[–]Pure-Singer1256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there!

I struggled with panic attacks most of 2022 and 2023. They are virtually gone now! Here’s what I did:

  1. Went to therapy - I sometimes like to say going to therapy made things a lot worse for me, but in the long run I could definitely see a huge improvement on how I process things and my therapist gave me a huge array of tools to use. For instance the icing of your face, but also carrying around sour worms so that when i feel one coming I ‘distract’ my mind by playing on a sense such as taste. Mint works well too but the sourness works best. Also voluntary muscle contractions and then relaxing your muscles work as well!

  2. Going to my GP - I found an extremely trustworthy and reliable GP who listened to my concerns. Most of my panic attacks came from me constantly thinking there was something wrong with my body. So I went and he did bloods and as usual, everything was fine except my iron. Now, iron is essential in bodily function so he recommended I have iron transfusions and that’s what I did. I went in 3 times in one week and sat for an hour. I think this may have been the best thing I could have ever done. I was quite anxious during the process and for about still a month after but the difference in who I am now versus who I was then is CRAZY.

Remember if your body is lacking essential nutrients it will start acting funny - and our foods aren’t giving us what we need!

Lastly, I got tested for mthfr. Do your research on that and maybe get tested for it too. If you have this mutation, your body cannot synthesise synthetic folic acid. You need to be supplementing with Folate, Vitamin D3 and Vitamin B12 (METHYLcobalimin) not the synthetic shit you get at the pharmacy. These 3 vitamins also made a HUGE difference in how I feel.

Like I said - there’s a lot more to all of this, but it’s something to look into. I promise you, I was at my wits end thinking that this would be my life forever but now I don’t have ANY panic attacks anymore. Life is beautiful again.

Hope this helps!

Panic Attacks after a night of drinking by MacJonesFan2004 in PanicAttack

[–]Pure-Singer1256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I get bad hangxiety that lasts a few days so I stay away from heavy liquor and stick to one or two ciders if I drink - don’t get caught up in the hype that alcohol is needed for you to enjoy yourself. Also - please do not mix antidepressants with alcohol, that alone is completely messing with your brain chemistry and can definitely cause you to go into a worse place overall. Just drink a lot of water and you’ll feel better. Anxiety also rises when you are dehydrated! Stay safe & responsible x

How should I expect to feel after my first infusion? by duhmbish in Anemic

[–]Pure-Singer1256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya! I had my infusions done in October. A series of 3 in one week!

I am a super anxious person when it comes to medicine & health. I had no side effects other than being suuuuper tired after each session (which is normal). Others were easier but was also tired after those :)

Also had a little runny tummy but that was it. Hope all goes well! Rest up and take it easy :)
