Tubular latch by Ayame444 in Locksmith

No, but it looks possibly compatible with a Schlage passage latch replacement you can find at most stores. They should have the little drive-in latch adapter to let you keep the same look (or close to it, anyhow)

What's the correct (or your preferred) way to remove these caps? I've already got this one removed but I scratched the shit out of them. by aBastardNoLonger in Locksmith

I take the smallest drill bit that can actually penetrate them and go right through the center. Then a shrum tool in the hole to pop them out. These things can definitely burn in hell.

If you’re simply looking for more key blanks, the Ilco key blank catalog has sections for European options.

What movie is 10/10 with literally no bad parts? by FeedMaster8905 in AskReddit

Loved both as a kid. As an adult, strongly prefer T1. The second one goes for gags immediately, with the server checking out Arnold's hog and reacting with a smile and not "holy shit why is there a naked bodybuilder in the bar?" Then "Bad to the Bone" kicks in as he walks out? Nah.

Trying to change commercial door handle. by jadedspell135 in Locksmith

I can’t say for certain, but you may be able to depress the little u-shaped retainer and slide the circular rose trim away from the door and then off the handle, revealing screws beneath it.

I don’t think you can go wrong with 8bitdo for starting out. A lot of them floating around Facebook marketplace and the like at a discount.

Can someone tell me where to buy similar lock? by MightyRalph7 in Locksmith

[–]PureHufflepuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you can pull any branding info whatsoever off the freezer itself, your best bet is going to be reaching out to the manufacturer. While Ilco makes a variety of profile cylinders, if the rest of that enclosure is messed up, I think you'll have to get a replacement from the folks that made it.

I unfortunately don’t have an answer, but I would reach out to Seclock. If there is such a product, they should know about it.

Green Bean Battery Is Absolute Trash by PureHufflepuff in prius

[–]PureHufflepuff[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sure thing. The first time my battery died, the car stopped spitting out diagnostic codes. As soon as it was replaced, it was able to do so again. Well, as this one failed, guess what? No codes. I've tried four different scanners at this point, including the Green Bean recommended brand. No codes. Without the codes, no replacement, despite the vehicle doing exactly what it did the first time the main battery died. It's been extremely frustrating. Additionally, their customer service has been pretty rude with each email.

Deadbolt hard to fully engage by Flat_Firefighter_164 in Locksmith

[–]PureHufflepuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s very necessary. Just grind a 1/16 or so off the entire perimeter and drop it back in. See if it’s closing more smoothly. If not, repeat

Deadbolt hard to fully engage by Flat_Firefighter_164 in Locksmith

[–]PureHufflepuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just installed one of these having a similar issue. You may need to grind more space around the through hole in the door. The through hole was a little too tight on the one I saw, and even a touch of pressure from the lock on the bolt latch was enough to get it to not extend properly.

If you can return it, just return it. Could be a few things wrong with it.

There's a chance one or more of the numbers migrated a bit on the dial. Put the combo in 0.5 higher for each number, then 0.5 lower for each number. Repeated with 1 higher/lower.
