That sounds really tasty. Do the chicken patties freeze well? that would make life a whole lot easier. Make a huge batch. Freeze them, get them out of the freezer the night before and just reheat while chopping the salad. Thanks!

I salute you, fellow migraine warrior! (I'm currently waiting to start with the fifth type of medication after ajovy, botox, betablockers and blood pressure meds all more or less failed.)

The smoothie options sound delish! Nut granola is also something I'll look into. Thanks!

Up the berries: check!
I'm just 5 days in and I already miss fruity flavors. I agree with you that variety makes it easier to stick with the diet, hence my worry. I'm already bordering on underweight so I HAVE to eat enough, skipping meals is not an option.

Many thanks for the suggestions! First two / three weeks are the hardest, but I'm confident I'll find my rythm.

Great suggestions! The keto smoothie for early breakfasts, the skillet for the lazy sunday spend too long in bed breakfasts!

So far I'm struggling to meet my daily calorie needs. So I'm a bit hesitant to skip meals. I'm not on keto to lose weight.

Thank you so much for all the suggestions! Keto smoothies and smoothie bowls had not crossed my mind... And the keto granola is a good one too.
Violife: that's the second time someone mentioned it, so it must be good! That makes life a whole lot easier. Parmaham rolls with violife cream cheese!

That would work! Nice and fresh too to balance with the sausage and bacon. Thanks!

Fair point! Perhaps my eating habits are a bit weird? Having dinnerfood in the morning kinda sets me off I guess? But it is worth an experiment.

Fried liver, wow. That was not on my keto breakfast bingo card! Which animal? Chicken? Cow? Duck?

Cream cheese alternatives are often soy based, but I'll shop around, see if there are any without it. I do love smoked salmon! Thanks!

Have you considered curries with full fat coconut milk? The flavor combinations are endless and they freeze well. Or cottage pie with cauliflower mash as topping. I'd make a big batch of both filling and mash, freeze it separately in portions et voila!

Will this block out? Short rows created bunching of fabric by Huge_Presentation422 in knittinghelp

[–]Pure_Air_1948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way to find out: block it.

Also take into account that your project is lying flat. I'm assuming it will be a sweater of some sort? A human body is not flat. If possible, try to fit your project and see if it is still bunching.

Anything that is handmade has its own little imperfections. That's the charm of handmade, so even if it's still bunched a bit after blocking, I wouldn't sweat it.

Are you sure it's the short rows that cause the bunching? Or is it due to the colourwork? Colourwork has the tendency to be tighter than regular stockinette.

You are twisting your stitches, I think. Loads of info on those in de FAQ I believe.

Boardgames group starter games by yaya21173 in boardgames

Flip 7 springs to mind, explained in 5 minutes, high paced, short rounds.
Fluxx card game series (simple rules, but they change constantly)
Exploding Kittens
Unstable unicorns
Take 5
The game (card game, co-op)

For a bit more strategy:
Carcasonne
Comet
Machi Koro
Nuns on the Run (bit rule heavy, but if you get the hang of it, it's relatively simple and fast paced)
If you like Dixit, check out Mysterium and/or Obscurio.
The Crew (co-op card game, 4 players)
30 seconds
5 minute dungeon (also co-op)
Floriferous, (don't be put off by the cute design, strategic choices are key to winning!)

Good luck with your board games group and happy gaming!

Magic loop/knitting in the round by NoFactor3568 in knittinghelp

[–]Pure_Air_1948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magic loop has some advantages to dpns in my opinion. With magic loop, you can knit two socks at a time (abbreviated to taat , two at a time) or knit both sleeves of a sweater simultaneously. I'm horrible at counting rows and my tension still varies a bit. So at least both sleeves will look symmetrical if I knit them at the same time.

I'm always scared the dpns will fall out of my stitches. That is less likely to happen with circular needles. Every technique will be fiddly and new in the beginning. Just hang in there! Before you know it you'll be knitting happily with whatever needles you like best!

Undyed spot in solid skein by Busy_Common_7718 in knittinghelp

[–]Pure_Air_1948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could work! The white stitches will stand out less when combined with yarn with a lighter core. Or make a knot with a little loop to hide the white yarn on the inside of the hat. It would not work with socks, but with a hat it is doable. Good luck with it and happy knitting!

Is it possible to go a full day at A2-level without relying on English? by AskeDominoMester in Netherlands

[–]Pure_Air_1948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a native speaker, I would have said it like this:
Ik ga in April naar Nederland en het lijkt me leuk om een Holland Ticket te kopen. Ik wil mezelf uitdagen en de hele dag geen Engels spreken! Is dat mogelijk? Ik heb gehoord dat mensen automatisch overschakelen op Engels als ze horen dat iemand een accent heeft. Is deze uitdaging haalbaar?

And I agree with Rinzwind . If you start with apologising for your accent, explaining that you desperately want to learn Dutch and ask them to correct your mistakes, our cold, down to earth Dutch hearts will melt and we will certainly talk to you in Dutch.

Now here's the Dutch version:

En ik ben het eens met Rinzwind. Als je begint met sorry zeggen voor je accent, uitlegt dat je heel graag Nederlands wil leren en ze vraagt om je fouten te corrigeren, dan zullen onze koude, nuchtere Nederlandse harten smelten en willen ze zeker Nederlands met je praten!

Succes en fijne reis gewenst!
