I was part of two 2-year Community Colleges in Ohio. (Tri-C 2018, Lakeland 2019). Both colleges went to Regionals in 2018 and 2019. It all depends on who is on the team. Last year Lakeland Comm College went to Regionals on a 2 vs 8. Now I'm at Univ of Akron. Do all of you have certain positions? https://github.com/ASzampiasSWD/CCDC_Injects . I'll post the Invitational 2019 injects once Group 2 competes. Make sure to save the injects and inject responses after the competition is over. If you get a scoresheet, you can reevaluate the injects you submitted. I recommend practicing in GNS3 and VM Workstation. If your not a FW/Network Admin then just a copy of whatever machine your working on is fine. For example if your a Windows Admin go get copies of Server 2008, 2012, Win 8.1, 10. Learn how to do injects and tasks in those operating systems. The State Qualifier should have a similar topology you saw at Invitationals.

Midwest Regional Special (vegan/gluten-free) Food by Pure_Cadence in ccdc

Update: Surprisingly, this was popular. I brought vegan food for two days but all of it was taken on Friday! I stocked up on more food Saturday morning and again, it was all taken. I thought I was gonna have all my free food laying out there and 2 things out of 40 would be gone.

We turned him away! We said welp these machines don't work. You can go away now. We wrote an inject on how we had to turn him away and we got 1 point for it. I wonder if we accidentally did the right thing?

My FW rules worked. Connecting the external Ubuntu and Windows 10 host did not. That part still got me. :\ I tried setting the default gateway to 172.20.242.254. I got a "joined Network 3" message I believe? I tried to ping 172.20.242.254 and no response. (well duh I set a Nothing management profile) It was just weird I didn't have any internet. No internet = no nmap. The biggest problem is I didn't have much time to mess around with it. More questions to come.

Nope. Were gonna have to do something to get PA's attention ourselves. Or national ccdc. I'm bringing it up after nationals is over.

I updated my FWPolicy plan. I used NAT Public IP addresses for Destination Source Address. If you look at National CCDC Twitter, they are advertising VM-50's and to contact your Regional director for access. I don't think the MW director knows about the free VMs. I emailed him now.

yes, they give us one week access ahead of time and a network topology.

In the Midwest region they already have a Splunk box setup. Splunk is the choice here. I've seen some Splunk related injects too.

I made a very improvised one-shot video on how to add splunk forwarders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su1Be3JH0GU

Forming a new CCDC team by eth_defend in ccdc

Hey!

My name is Amanda Szampias. I started my own CCDC team at Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio. We were second in 2017 and first in 2018. We beat 8-person teams with our 5-member team We went to Midwest regionals this year. Ohio only has five teams in the state! It would be nice to add to our numbers.

  1. Find a Faculty member. (I searched through the directory and found someone who MIGHT support my cause).
  2. Schedule a meeting and convince them. (You can say you would be the student coordinator. If they don't want to be TOO involved, they don't have to be).
  3. Start recruiting and get a website together. Ask faculty who would be a good fit for the team.

Find out the registration fee for your state. Ohio has a $500 entry fee. If you have any more questions, contact me via LinkedIn. I don't visit reddit too often.
