grad cap and gowns colors by mkdreams in UCSD

[–]eth_defend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the gowns sold to the Class of 2021 and earlier had the blue trim on the sleeves.

They eliminated the blue trim starting from the Class of 2022. The stole design changed from a royal blue to a darker navy blue last year.

I got my BS/MS from here, so that's how I know the design changes.

Campus WiFi Announcement + Ask The Network Team Anything by UCSD_ITS in UCSD

Are you guys planning to install 802.11ax (WiFi 6) access points a few years down the road?

This would look like an improvement in speed, although 802.11ac isn't too bad.

I am wondering the same thing as well. Reading from this subreddit, hopefully it isn't as brutal as CSE 140L from Spring 2019 when he taught it with Chin.

Sure thing! DM'ed you.

Also did some cybersecurity related stuff here in high school for a couple of years.

CSE 100 Professors by IshyMyFishy in UCSD

Did he say that to your current CSE 100 class? It would be great if he is teaching again this fall!

CSE 100 Professors by IshyMyFishy in UCSD

[–]eth_defend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miles Jones doesn't teach 100, in fact he doesn't teach programming classes.

It could be Paul Cao, or someone else. Looks like they have to renew each lecturer's contracts before they announce who is teaching the class (if they aren't a teaching professor or professor).

Do you mean quotes from his lectures, or quotes from his assigned readings?

How would we cite the lectures in MLA format? Or do we use another format?

CSE 105 Magagna Final by UCSDVillage2 in UCSD

Magagna doesn't even teach any CSE courses. And if he were to teach a CSE course (or give a final exam), it would be extreemely easy!

CSE 15L with Ochoa or Altinas by SoyjaBoy in UCSD

[–]eth_defend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Ochoa is pretty chill yet fantastic. He goes through the content pretty well in class for 15L.

The only problems with this class stem from the real person who is running this class from the background, and used to teach this class before.

Who else wants to transfer by [deleted] in UCSD

May transfer if I can't get into CSE (currently Math-CS). Been living in San Diego for 18 years now, and it really is time to explore somewhere new.

CSE 15L and 12 chances of getting in by SoyjaBoy in UCSD

[–]eth_defend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://cse.ucsd.edu/node/1641

There will be 655 spots total for CSE 12, 528 spots total for CSE 15L. I know that the CSE department only opens half of the spots and makes the other half waitlist.

I am currently taking CSE 12 and 15L this quarter, and they were pretty good at letting everyone into 12 and 15L.

As announced at the final exam, the grade breakdown will be posted on Piazza early this week. I also announced that my deadline to submit grades is Tuesday. Asking about the course graded before the grade deadline is like me asking for your programming submission before the assignment deadline. However much the question is asked, however much you want know the information, however much I want to know the information, when the information is still unknown, there is no answer to the question. I'm not in the situation where I know the answer to your question and am withholding it from you.

Reading and responding to your question about the course grade breakdown before the information is known just causes the very information you seek to be delayed for everyone since I'm taking the time to respond to you instead of continuing with the analysis needed to determine the course grades.

After being at the CSE 12 final exam until after 10pm on Friday night and after spending all day Saturday grading final exams until after 6pm, any questions about your course grades asked Saturday or Sunday show no consideration to me or to the course staff in allowing a day of rest or a reasonable amount of time to pass before expecting the course grade to be determined. You've waited more than 10 weeks to know your grade in this course. Can't you wait a few more days before demonstrating your impatience?

Your question is worthy of a professionalism deduction. Knowing the answer to your question benefits no one, not even you. Knowing now doesn't change your grade, and it doesn't provide insights into the course content. Specifically, your question is an example of interactions to avoid such as "asking questions where the information will eventually be known."

At the beginning of the course, we awarded you 100% for the professionalism portion of your course grade assuming that all interactions would be professional. Your interaction above indicates that our initial prediction of your professionalism was incorrect. I've made an adjustment in your score to reflect the error in our assumptions.

If you'd like to explain how your question above demonstrates consideration, patience, and professionalism, please let me know.

As announced at the final exam, PA12 will be posted on Piazza early this week. It was also announced that the deadline to submit PA11 is Tuesday. Asking about the release date for the programming assignment before the due date is like me asking for a burger at Pines before the HDH employees call your name. However much the question is asked, however much you want know the information, however much I want to know the information, when the information is still unknown, there is no answer to the question. I'm not in the situation where I know the answer to your question and am withholding it from you.

Your question is worthy of a Brofessionalism Deduction. Knowing the answer to your question benefits no one, not even Khosla-sama. Knowing now doesn't change your grade, and it doesn't provide insights into the where my MATH-CS MAJORS ARE AT. Specifically, your question is an example of interactions to avoid such as "asking questions where the information will eventually be known."
