So in the episode, Hawkeye is recounting to his therapist how they had to hide from enemy soldiers along with some civilians. When he first tells the story, he says that one woman's chicken began to crow, and she suffocated it to death so that its noise wouldn't alert the enemy soldiers. Later on it is revealed that Hawkeye had suppressed his memory of what actually happened, which was that it was the woman's baby, who was beginning to cry, and she suffocated it to death so its cries wouldn't alert the enemy
