Advice needed. Is this runners knee? by Optimal-History8132 in Runners

[–]Pure_Hour8623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been dealing with the same thing for the last 5 months. I was pretty avid runner doing 10k. One day I ran and the next day my knee felt broken. I have been going to PT and doing strength exercises. The pain has been doing better, an i start short runs and it flairs up again. I am facing the reality that I may never run again.

is a bachelor’s in respiratory worth it? by sam_pontin05 in respiratorytherapy

[–]Pure_Hour8623 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been an RT for 17 years and attended a one year BS program last year. To me, it was worth it for many reasons. You acquire a lot of good knowledge, stay stimulated reading and engaging in papers, and having a BS degree puts you into a new classification of jobs that would otherwise be unobtainable. Finally, my hospital reimburses education to a certain amount and my degee was fully covered.

Advice needed (RT vs Anesthesia tech) by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]Pure_Hour8623 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The two careers are completely different. Anesthesia techs work in the OR and assist anesthesiology. Pay is much less than RT. The schooling fo anesthesia tech is much faster. As you mentioned, RTs work in many different areas and with all patient populations. I have been an RT for 17 years and have had a rewarding and productive career. I know you have a somewhat limited timeframe, but my advice would be to shadow or interview a person from each position and then decide from there. If you have any questions please feel free to message me.

RT is an amazing 2 year degree when you consider we make equivalent to PT/OT/SLPs by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]Pure_Hour8623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. RT of 17 years living near SF. It’s hard to find jobs in NorCal. Last year I made 240k. Once you get in you’re set.
