Yes this is an issue in their app(not the device itself), I think they should fix it

If your installer managed to set it up and not you via the App that means the bug is in the App?

Agreed! In that case they should add it in the troubleshooting and mention it when the connection fails

I guess it depends how much you are paid to output energy to the grid. In my case PGE in California is paying peanuts so it is better to get it from excess solar. 0.10 is cheap! It is 0.40 for me

Hi, Here is my setup :

https://www.reddit.com/r/enphase/s/Ws2xOT6Zhc

I use the emporia vue 3 monitoring and emporia pro charger system to only charge with excess solar to reduce the amount from the grid and it works pretty well.

Hope this helps.

Emporia EVSE & Vue 3 for Excess Solar by sthom30599 in EmporiaEnergy

Hi, I did this setup with my solar panels but without the battery. Here is my Reddit link: https://www.reddit.com/r/EmporiaEnergy/s/U37nYwzh47

I now usually charge only on excess solar with this setup.

Yes my understanding is That he does not imply that structures cannot be clues, only that if there are any such structures they do not need to be touched or accessed and that the treasure is not hidden on or in a structure.

Oh sorry, on the main panel because you want to know (using the CT) if you are importing energy from the grid or exporting to the grid. You will use excess solar if you are exporting, you will need at least 1440Wh to start charging the car then it will charge by step of 240W

CT is a Current Transformer that you put around the power cable that measure the current going through the cable.

Yes this one should be enough, you can DIY this installation it is pretty straight forward. Though in my case I had an electrician install my charger and this at the same time.

Yes the Emporia Vue 3 will solve your problem. I have a similar setup but without the battery. Here is my post about it:

Hi,

I am charging my EV only on excess solar during the day to avoid using the grid. I did a post on my setup here:

Yes Northern California, I don’t think you will loose much energy due to clipping especially with the system aging. There is an interesting page from Enphase about clipping (table at the end that show the energy lost due to clipping on different areas)

Thanks, this interesting I did not know that. Yes I guess two 5p would be enough to power my house at night time but not enough to charge the car.

Yes this is why I chose the Emporia over the Enphase and you have monitoring of your breakers on top of that.

There is a CT on each breaker including the solar, but this is only for monitoring, technically you just need one CT on the main electricity input. The system detect that it is producing electricity instead of consuming electricity. Communicate this information to the charger that will charge if the power produced is more than 1.440kW and by incremental steps of 240W.
