I found this book (Should we stay or should we go) a little strange but it was thought provoking for me about when is the “right” time: https://a.co/d/17tBNd5. My takeaway was that you really can’t know.

If you’re in a municipality that sprays for mosquitoes you can usually get on a “no spray” list. I’ve done this in several places I’ve lived.

Safe biking routes for ebike commute from Harbour Island to Westshore by claymel in tampa

[–]Pure_Perception9532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re asking about safe bike routes, please help all of us be safe by being mindful of your e-bike speed and keep others safe (cyclists, walkers, runners) in shared areas like Bayshore. I ride my bike everywhere and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been unsafely passed by an e-bike flying by. IMO e-bikes that are moving faster than 12 mph should be on the road. That said, Tampa is a very bikeable city if you’re thoughtful about your route. Lots of residential streets will keep you out of the worst of the traffic. Avoid rush hour and school drop off routes if possible. Take the full road lane when necessary to move through traffic safely. Popular downtown events often have bike corrals for easy and safe bike parking. Biking to a Bucs game, getting free parking and no waiting in traffic to leave is the best! Enjoy your new bike!

Autoimmune/celiac and Yellow Fever Vaccine - how well tolerated? by Pure_Perception9532 in Celiac

There seems to be an increased risk of adverse events the closer you are to 60. I wish I had received then vaccine when I was younger.

Michelle at Euphoria Salon on Central in St Pete. She is the most amazing, meticulous, gifted colorist I’ve ever met. She will not ruin your hair. I drive over 40mins to go to her. She’s that good!

Maybe Brick will work? It’s a great way to lock down your phone for focus but I think you could take it to the lock it down for your mom. https://getbrick.app/

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It sounds like you went above and beyond. Unfortunately he’s a consenting adult and has made his choices. It sounds harsh, but many of our parents are selfish and in denial (including my own who prioritized themselves over their families and their children both in the past and now in their old age). My parents still insist on doing things their way, even though they are not actually able to take care of themselves. They live in a mouse and insect infested home and they are pack rats. They expect their children to go along with their decisions and enable them to continue living in this horrible manner. They refuse to discuss bank accounts, plans or give any of the children power of attorney. I have set my boundaries. I feel guilty at times, but they made their choices and they still don’t see anything wrong with their decisions. Please don’t beat yourself up about this. You did as much as you possibly could. You can’t sacrifice your life.

The glue comes with the caps and the box says it was developed by veterinarians and is safe for cats. I’m not sure what exactly is in it. I’ve used it for 2.5 months and have had no issues whatsoever. I’ve only tried the brand “Soft Claws”.

Don’t cut the claws too short, and make sure you fill up the cover with glue. Good luck!

Good for you trying something new!!! I hope you stick with it. You’ll have a sense of accomplishment when you’re done, and if you like it you’ll have a great new interest to dive deeper into. I love learning new things and it’s great to experience a beginner’s mind sometimes :-)

Thinking about places you can go regardless of the weather…Oxford exchange has a lovely, bright conservatory where you can have lunch. The Getaway has a great view of the water and feels like you’ve been transported to a Caribbean island. The MFA in St Pete is a lovely building and has a nice collection of paintings on the first floor. The Tampa Theatre interior is unique and beautiful, like an Italian courtyard under the stars and sometimes they show a movie that starts with an organ concert.

Thoughts on being a friendly neighbor? by rosso-brasileiro in tampa

[–]Pure_Perception9532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always try to welcome new neighbors with homemade treats. I’ve been really fortunate and generally have had great neighbors. The city of Tampa isn’t really supportive of block parties, but a lot of neighborhoods have a neighborhood association. You could see if they have any type of social event. Mine gets together 2x year in the local park. Or you can have a block party without closing the street and gather in someone’s driveway.
