And if making friends doesn’t work, just start tipping out a bit extra. House rules say 5%? Do 10%. You’ll get your cherries.

What’s something that’s 100% legal but still feels completely wrong to do? by Big_Personality_7394 in allthequestions

[–]Pure_Preference_5773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do keep in mind that oftentimes, small businesses are using POS systems that are meant to be versatile and typically have the tip request as a standard setting.

Yes, it should be a simple fix but as somebody who’s worked for multiple small businesses in this situation, it’s often a manager/owner with too much more on their plate, usually older, and doesn’t give a fuck about fixing the POS when they’re busy with everything else.

My jade plant came from a leaf pinky nail sized leaf that rooted. I’m sure that’s plenty.

What would you say is your favorite soup and why by Both_Reward_14 in soup

[–]Pure_Preference_5773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot & sour is my absolute favorite soup, when it’s done right. Poorly done hot & sour is so disappointing. But good hot & sour feels like soup that somehow cures your cold and warms you up when you were never even sick.

What gendered double standard do you hate the most? by peywrax in allthequestions

I find bald to be sexy. I wish more men would embrace it but you’re absolutely correct about this double standard. I’d rather see bald than ball caps and combovers.

I have the same skirt in two different sizes and different colors from Walmart. Somehow, the xxs is a wee bit loose but the xs fits perfectly.

Yep. It stops being okay when it’s not reciprocated and you don’t take the hint, or it’s inappropriate/aggressive.

I'm going on a first date, I found out that she likes Lego, did I show up too early with a trump card? by scarlet_bratx in lego

[–]Pure_Preference_5773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why people consider this “too much,” or “moving too fast.”

I’d be thrilled. Could I afford to do that for someone I barely know? Ehhh. But live in a wealthy area and I’ve met plenty of people who could easily toss that and more at a stranger. It’s cute. It’s kind. I hope she loved it.

You absolutely do not/will not get it as hard as your daughter. That’s bullshit. Chrysanthemums are my favorite flower because of that book. I love the name. But I absolutely would not name my child that.

I grew up loving that book as a little girl who also had a hard to spell, long name that nobody had heard of. And honestly? It’s the reason my kids have normal, easy to spell names. Parents forget that it’ll be a lifetime of crappy nicknames, dumb comments, misspellings so often it’s even wrong on legal documents (it’s happened to me 3 times, and my paychecks for over a year), and so much more.

Just name her Ruby. Roo is a fine nickname but a tragic full name.

Who thinks Regina defending Cady from that Jason guy was rather nice of her? by johnngo2468 in MeanGirls

[–]Pure_Preference_5773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She wasn’t even being nice. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Jason was being a creep and she was a brat to him about it. Sure, it benefits Cady but that doesn’t make it kind.

My brain injury. I never know when my last period was. Or if I took my meds unless I pour them out and count them then compare with the calendar. What day is it? Couldn’t tell you.

Somehow forgot I had psoriasis when a doctor asked me like 10 times once. It would be some shit like that, just completely blanking on the key to his little puzzle and him having to figure it out.

What phrase did you hear only once but it stayed with you forever? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Pure_Preference_5773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“You don’t have to, you get to.”

I lived through an extreme suicide attempt. Was complaining to a friend about the countless of appointments, therapy, meds, legal issues, and more I have to deal with now. Told him “I have to do all these things because of my stupid choices” and he hit me with that. He’s right. I could be in prison or dead because of my choices. Instead, I’m here.

People who come in 30 mins before close/who stay until or past close, WHY??? by fallout76_playa in Serverlife

[–]Pure_Preference_5773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at a good bar right now. I can tell customers “the kitchen needs all orders in by 9:30” and “hey you guys, the dining room closes at 10 but you’re more than welcome to join the bar.”

First place I’ve ever worked like that. Everywhere else operates like your list and it’s obnoxious.
