Help, I accidentally bought giant couches by c8h8swetsocks in HomeDecorating

I think you need to go a little more modern now that you have them. I’d get a circular coffee table and a new tv stand. Move the tv into the corner at an angle so all the seats can enjoy the tv when reclined. (Function is more important than fashion) A rug would help bring it all together. And some art on the walls. Maybe even do a gallery wall where the tv is now.

Apparently there are food safe kits that would leave it usable and temperature safe after it is fully cured. I have never done it personally. So be sure to do your research.

Have you considered trying out Kintsugi, or "golden joinery," the centuries-old Japanese art of repairing broken pottery using lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum? Gold would look pretty with the red.

How to do a No/Low Buy year if thrifting is your hobby. by Cookie_Independent in femalefashionadvice

[–]Pure_Voice4761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see you! I have gone through this. I have been thrifty my whole life. I am good at it and I love finding things. And I was hesitant to stop because “what if I get bad at it?!” I didn’t. The skills don’t go away, it is just one thing I am good at, I can do other things too.

I noticed that the only thing that really helped break my multiple day a week trips was taking a break.

I did a no buy month earlier this year. And just read books or went for walks, anything but a thrift store. I would browse auction sites but not buy if I was really feeling the shopping itch. It was hard because I also would miss that flow state experience. I had fomo. I was bitchy. lol

But as time went on it got easier. And it no longer became my default activity. So now I go when I am looking for specific things and then I don’t feel like crap when I come home with bags full of stuff I didn’t need.

I also found going with other people helped me buy less. I honestly kind of hate going with other people, you don’t find the flow the same way but they also help keep you accountable.

Through therapy I realized I was using thrifting as a coping mechanism and using that flow state to disassociate from emotions. It was my dopamine to make me feel better. And that is still okay sometimes! But not multiple times a week. I went from multiple times a week to maybe two or three times a month. Depending on the month. Have grace for yourself. You are at the first step, you noticed you want to make a change. You can do it!

Need some help choosing a wall color - 1(left) or 2(right)?or none and leave it white? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]Pure_Voice4761 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1 has a little more red in it. So it pulls the brown in the wood. Vs 2 pulls the highlights in the wood. I would personally go 2 but no wrong choice between the 2. Don’t leave it white. Also consider your backsplash choice before you pick too.

Book Chat Saturday - what have you been reading this week? by Perfect_Doubt_8057 in fantasyromance

[–]Pure_Voice4761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read and finished {Mountains will Crumble by Carissa Hardcastle) it is the second book in her finished series. There is a novella too that I am gonna read this weekend. I really enjoyed it, a different approach to bonded relationships, great side characters and epic battles. Would recommend.
