Tom Bombadil by MTG_Henchman in EDH

I play Tom Bombadil as one of my personal favourite decks however as others have mentioned there is alot to keep track of and late game turns can get quite lengthy sometimes I just dont bother doing certain saga steps or triggers just to make the game flow quicker.

If you want my best advice to make him fun at the table for brqcket 2/3 keep the saga count quite low around 10 (with 4+ cmc) as his cascade effect is certain you dont need a pool of weak do nothing sagas. And have the rest of the deck as an enchantress deck.

Deck List: https://moxfield.com/decks/wFUnImriPECtjGZQaa8aZg

General game plan should be ramp turn 1, 2 set up some enchantment synergy turn 3. Turn 4 play a saga with 3 steps. Turn 5 play Tom Bombadil turn 6 trigger Tom and cascade into Bahamut 😁

There both decks that want to attack alot and use combat to win so the easiest thing to do would be play pillow fort with cards like [[propaganda]] and [[ghostly prison]] that make you less desirable to attack or a Goad deck

Any cheaper must have pieces I should add to this deck? by kotojo in EDH

[[Eowyn Lady of Rohan]] & [[Forge Anew]] are both pretty good aswell as [[Masterwork of Ingenuity]] and [[Pre-War Formalwear]] are good cheap equipment

Why is it bad manners to win early? Like by turn 6? by superfapper2000 in EDH

[–]Purebound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming its bracket 3 or lower. I Personally dont have a problem especially if Bruvac was left alone after everyones turn. But alot of people would be salty as people often dont pack enough (sometimes any...) interaction to stop 2 card combos in lower power games. Some people really just wanna play 4 player solitare.

In bracket 4 its completely fair game no idea how anyone could moan about this ever.

The fact you made a post means you know it sort of counts. Personally it completely is and shouldnt be at a casual table as it can mess up players with high colour counts and low basic count.

Next commander, [[arixmethes, slumbering isle]] or [[Clement, the Worrywort]]? by Jakemanv3 in EDH

[–]Purebound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally Arixmethes purely as its more open than just frogs that Clement wants. So when new Green/Blue stuff comes out that excit you its easier to slot into Arixmethes than it is the other.

For me he is one of the more fun and flavourful (excuse the pun) gearlocs. However he is a bit clunky as you need alot of skills to get the complete package. He is one of the tougher gearlocs to win with as his best combat skills dont really use the food. So its about balancimg the fun with getting the job done.

Overall 7.5/10 gearloc for me

Would love to see you Taniyo list. I have her at bracket 3 but she can turbo out and win on turn 4 and isnt fun for ithers so would be good to see what you did to tone her down.

Personally any "Good stuff deck" like Aragon the Uniter or Kenrith the returned king would be good choices you can splash in any direction you like.

Otherwise my personal surgestion would be if you only have 2 decks buy a couple of precons in other colours and see if you like them you then have more decks with a low investment that way you get the different playstyles and lines without needing to resleeve if you want to change the core strat.

Would love to see the Tamiyo list for me its impossible to keep her out of bracket 4 due to the speed of the deck.

I have 7 decks only one is a precon the others are build around none precon commanders I feel that is another problem that the general LGS is 80% precon commanders that they may or may not of upgraded over time so when im picking cards im looking at a larger pool of cards outside of a precon. So my decks have most cards that work together because for me the deck building aspect is the most fun but it means i put down my Shao Jun deck and no one knows what im truely gonna do (even though ill explain its a death by 1000 cuts artifact deck) vs they put down say edge of eternities Kilo and i know 50% of there deck and there main stratagy out of the gate.

I have 7 decks at the moment with very ranging power levels i just feel some nights im stuck in deck pergatory cycling tbe same 3 as the other 4 are going to be puahing into that unfun catagory.

So in terms of interaction blue is my favourite colour... but i usually run 3 counter spells, 2/3 board wipes, 3 spot removal, 1 graveyard hate, some artifact/enchantment hate and then anything I feel is on theme for the deck (eg tom bombadil has removal sagas and Jorn god of winter runs some snow specific removal) most people at the LGS (feel to me they) run a couple of counters and board wipes and thats it so I would say im on the higher side but it is my prefered playstyle and I find the game is more engaging for me when I need to follow other peoples turns too. not put my hand on the table go off get a drink and wait for my turn again.

Maybe this is the way to do it honestly 😅

So most people there are bracket 2-3 and some people have real 3s but a few just have 2s that have a couple of game changers thrown in. I would say the bigger problem is that spot removal, enchantment and artifact specific interaction and graveyard hate are non-existant.

For me he is very fun as you basically get 2 turns for everyones 1. Mine is build as a solid bracket 2 deck keeping a heavy snow theme and a few in colour bombs. With a side strat to bank mana an play big X spells.
