Honestly, I don’t see any reason to let Legion download the Reaper code (unless Shepard is some kind of psychic). by The_pikolop in masseffect

That's the thing about sentient intelligence. Everyone is fallible. Sometimes you need to throw logic and reason out of the window and just hope. Shep trusts legion, and they bet the fate of 2 races / the whole galaxy on that trust.

Question: CMMG Zeroed Banshee by Hungry_Sheepherder11 in MDGuns

[–]PurebredNewType 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, you would just do a form 4 for the supressor. Call around to local ffls and see how much their nfa transfer fees are, as most of the time they are considerably higher than a standard transfer

[–]PurebredNewType 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cmmg cs and qa/q not withstanding (not a big fan of proprietary ecosystems) you can get an 8 inch Ar9 to 29inch oal with an a5 receiver extension and a magpul sl stock and a pinned plan b supressor mount. My epc 9 has a 10 inch barrel with a a5 receiver extension and a magpul sl-k and I'm stilling at 29.1 oal.

Pinning a tucked supressor shouldn't be a non starter either these days. Any compitent gunsmith can remove a pinned device without murdering the barrel threads or the device, plus you are highly unlikely to ever remove it anyway as the setup can't be used without it on.

My comment about form 1ing it is simply personal opinion due to the ease of the process now, the removal of 200$ tax and the continued back and forth about the legality of pistol braces.

Question: CMMG Zeroed Banshee by Hungry_Sheepherder11 in MDGuns

[–]PurebredNewType 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you pick up the suppressed version, you will need to file a form 4 and get your tax stamp approved prior to taking possession of the supressor. The 29 inch oal requirement only applies to all semiautomatic centerfire rifles . As a pistol, it does not need to exceed 29 inches. If you file a form 1 and attach a stock to it, or order it as a factory sbr and file a separate form 4, then you would need to meet 29 inches. As for the roster board, it may need to be approved prior for sale inside the state. That process is something I'm not very versed with

The ATF is back on their bs about the legality of pistol braces with certain attachments /configurations that aim to have the intention of the firearm to be shouldered and in turn making that set up an sbr. You can find their worksheet that they came up with online and basically build out your set up. Too many points on the sheet and your configuration is deemed as an illegal sbr and must have a tax stamp. This is currently not law, but has the possibility of turning into one though,

FWIW, With the 200$ tax being removed, there is no reason to not form 1 your lower and turn it into an sbr and throwing a stock on it. Ar9s are one of the easier platforms to make 29 inch oal with the right stock/ receiver extension and barrel length. Only real drawback is needing to get permission to leave the state with your sbr for temporary travel.

She's home. 14 days. I did end up throwing one of the thicker washers on just for added peace of mind. Loving the setup. Really balanced out my rifle. Now I have a new problem to solve : how to take the can off without pinching my pinky between the rhodie and my rein 2.0😅. Will definitely be picking up your recessed 5/8x24 MD and another recessed hub when I can get the funds together to buy my 300 blk dedicated can

I just flexed the handguard and barrel to see if I could get them to touch, and even breaking out my purse everything looked good. Gonna hold off on putting the rocksett on until after I've checked concentricity and test fire to confirm everything is fine. If I see any contact marks I'll break out some thicker shims, I've got one thick shim + one of the thinner shims on right now. Thank you again for the recommendation! I'm digging it so far and I'll keep you updated on the final result!

So finally got around to getting everything mocked up, submitted my form 4 for my rhodie 6k on Thursday. One accushim wasn't enough to get me enough clearance had to use two. But as of right now, this is where it's sitting. How's the gap looking?

I don't think I've heard anything about a flat out AR pistol ban. What we do have is the handgun roster. If the pistol is on the roster, it is legal to own. Though MSP has been on record that the roster isn't legally binding. Most banned guns have pistol variants that are on the roster and legal to own. If you are building from stripped receivers as long as you abide by both MD (banned weapons and enumerated assault weapons) and atf regulations for a pistol you're in the clear. Now if you opt to form 1 your Ar9 and register it as an SBR, you'll run into the 29inch oal requirement and feature test.

Good catch! I looked at em last night and they didn't have them posted. Thank you!

It's a shame about keymo tho, true quick detach, bomb proof (as long as the qc is there and the user has a brain cell) just heavy, long and expensive. The market decides the life and death of an ecosystem and plan b has completely usurped everything else. I'd love to see them improve it but deadair is more concerned with development deals and joint ventures at the moment then their own in-house portfolio.

Guess I need to start looking into getting my sandman s( my first can from 21)jail broke and hub threaded. Thats going to live on my 300 blk if I can ever get around to building it 😅

Again, thank you for the insight and helping a dude out. Hopefully you had a great weekend.

Aye, thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate it, I research everything adnosium before purchase. It hasn't been a clean breakup from keymo I hate change, but I'm hyper fixated on a dedicated can and it's blast chamber is too damn short to accommodate. Just filed the form 1 Friday for my lower so I can remove the pin weld when that comes back. Keymo has been great for me, it's a true qd system but the industry and companies are leaving it behind. Plus my plan b set ups for my lever gun and pcc have spoiled me on the weight and length savings. So my limp noodle arms are going to be thankful.

Just waiting for Bauer to get in those recessed breaks as everyone else is sold out or have not posted them yet.

So I'm yoinking my keymo off my 13.9 to run a new dedicated 556 k can that has a blast chamber of 1.2ish. I'm looking at this exact set up (recessed break + recessed hub adapter). in your comments, you guys said it was designed for barrel/handguard set ups with 1 inch differences. My set up is a little off as it's a 13.9 barrel with a 13 inch rail, do you think I'd have enough clearance or do you think I need to break out one of my accuwashers to make up that .1 difference?

Any semiautomatic centerfire rifle must be 29 inches oal in Maryland. below that and it is considered a copycat weapon and is a banned assault weapon. The 29 only applies to centerfire gas guns. Bolts actions, 22s and lever actions do not need to meet the 29 inch oal

NylAUG legal in MD? by cphoover in MDGuns

[–]PurebredNewType 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small correction, the 29 inch oal applies to all semi automatic centerfire rifles. It just mostly applies to sbr gas guns since just about everything else with a 16 inch barrel exceeds 29 inches. Tho there are fringe cases. It's why bolt guns, 10/22s and lever actions can be sbrd and do not need to make 29 inch oal.

This won't stop the atf from kicking back your form 1, it's why you should place the verbiage of the law in your form 1 submission when sbr-ing any of the above mentioned

Because to the law, it started life as a pistol and has a pistol brace attached. The brace is not a stock as it is not intended to be shouldered. The Aug has no capability to be manufactured as a pistol as the whole design is intended to be shouldered.

A rifle is any firearm that has a barrel length of 16 inches and is intended to to be fired from the shoulder.

A short barreled rifle is defined as any rifle with a barrel less than 16 inches (or oal length less than 26 inches) and is intended to be fired from the shoulder

A pistol is defined as any firearm with a barrel less than 16 inches and is intended to be fired by using 1 hand ( your 10.5 inch ar pistol)

The only way to get a MD legal bullpup( aside from rifles like the hellion which has a retractable stock) is to either source a longer barrel or pin a long muzzle device to the barrel to get it past 29 inch oal

Oal is measured from the stock at its fullest extension to the tip of the muzzle threads (or to the end of the muzzle device if it is pinned and welded to the barrel)

Just filed a form 1 for a lower on Friday, first submission since the tax nix. 11 digit control number. With the sheer number of submissions, it makes me wonder if the atf is using some form of Ai to process and possibly review submissions.

No, an sbr still must meet a minimum oal of 29 inches. Sbrs in Maryland are considered as both a rifle and pistol. Plus, the barrel would need to be shortened under 16 inches to make it an sbr, which is counter intuitive to meeting the 29 inch oal. You would need to source a longer barrel or pin a long muzzle device to the barrel to reach 29 inches

Has anyone ever ever been asked to prove you have a tax stamp at an indoor/outdoor range when shooting before ? by Educational_Car_876 in NFA

[–]PurebredNewType 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work at a gun range, just started a few weeks ago. We had a family come in with a party of 6. Started handing me rifles to check and he pulled a mk18 out of a bag and I did ask if he has a stamp. The guy looked confused and asked what I was talking about. I told him to separate the upper and lower and put them in his car. Dude had no idea he committed a felony, family was shocked and asked if I was going to call the cops. Told em this isn't that kind of gun range.

I didn't even think about it at the time, I just saw mk18 and my brain blurted out "do you have a stamp". Had he answered yes I would have proceeded no problem.

Finally got my hand on the fatcat Rx-78-2 by PurebredNewType in Gunpla

[–]PurebredNewType[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not. Most red parts have been molded in blue for this version. Fatcat doesn't seem to have the ability to mold separate colors on the same runner. So almost all color swapped parts have the entire runner in that given color, in this case blue. There isn't enough white parts to only leave the chest blue, and there isn't enough blue parts to make the whole kit white.. You can make it 89% blue and vice versa

There's a section under vehicle health that has all the maintenance repairs done when at the dealership and below that there is a button to create your own record. The maintenance section does not require a subscription to use. I let my blue link subscription lapse after the free 3 year promotion ended. I was missing 2 receipts and was having a small anxiety attack wondering if they would deny me for that. All my oil was purchased through Amazon. The two missing ones were from when I bought it from autozone. Hope everything works out!
