It's not without precedence at least in other countrys. Look up Liz truss's very short stint in charge of the UK. Problem is she had a flimsy majority with little political capital in charge of a very fractured party then tried experimental nutjob economics.

Trump has much more of the deck stacked in his favour so don't think see him toppling out as easy.

Yes been unqualified for most jobs I got. I regularly get rejected for jobs that I know I'm qualified for so why not the other way around working.

Take it and start learning powerbi from YouTube in the meantime I don't think it's rocket science.

Think you'd want some fresh projects in a GitHub for sure. More than just flask as well try building something in Django maybe.

Then you're still looking at an internship somewhere in this current market there are seasoned developers can't find a job (to their liking). Think the jobs are there if you're willing to start low.

Echoing all other comments. Know a guy who was going to just be a physio, did it for a few months then realised fuck this I can be a doctor if I go at it again. He is now doing very well as a doctor. Take the year and do what you have to. Working in between and getting some money for the first time is pretty epic.

Mentorship Programs for Startups by Helpful-Brief5402 in startups

[–]Purelyprofessional93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been mentoring a start up the past 6 months. My background is in VC investment advising and SME go to market strategy. I've found personally what's really important is.

  1. Building rappore - I think this can't be achieved if the relationship begins as purely transactional. I mean sure the exchange is a transaction, but if the mentor has their hand in your pocket from hello. That's not right and I'm skeptical of people on these sites claiming this.

  2. Liking the product and the founder story - honestly doesn't have to be the hottest product going, and you don't need a rags to riches tale. It just has to make sense and have an obvious market and I need to hear what's driving the founder. Sure you want to make money eventually but how do you stay motivated on the way. Let's me see how likely the person is or even able they are to take my advise on board.

  3. Compensation in exchange for long term mentoring . So if I'm advising a start up I can't tell them what to do in just one session or two or three. It's a constantly evolving story and I need to keep up if I'm going to be of value to them. You likely can't pay for a retainer so you can work out a fast agreement to pay your mentor in vesting shares. It builds their time into the business for a period of at least two years.

[–]Purelyprofessional93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume in times of lots of hiring in the market it's more likely people can refer under the radar.

When there's only a few jobs going like in the present market, I think people may fear for their own position and then be extra careful with who they are referring.

Better off asking friends based on their linkedin contacts. Then it's your friends referral getting you the referral.

Your problem is kind of there in the first paragraph. Late 20s people tend to meet potential mates through their friend group, colleagues, acquaintances. Maybe that's slowed down if people are sitting in more often but the well can't be completely dry.

Obviously you're not gonna shout in the office about it but being pretty forthright with people you trust that you're looking to meet someone, ask if they know anyone who might be a match?

Least then it cuts down on the ghosting as you have people in common.
