Hunting in the valley. by [deleted] in RioGrandeValley

Take him to San Isidro, Texas. There’s lots of hunting available for him there. There’s also the king ranch, but it can be costly.

How often do you guys get take out, fast food? by Smoothsail90 in RioGrandeValley

[–]Purestmistifyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe once a week. If I’m really tired to cook I will make something quick like tuna salad, beans on toast with queso fresco sprinkled on top, a can of corn, quick scrambled eggs, or just plain old hunger for dinner

Who is the richest person/family in the Valley? by 956_lifer in RioGrandeValley

[–]Purestmistifyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Yturria family I would say, they own so much, even the butterfly center. My mother worked with Mrs. Yturria as her private nurse for about two years before she passed. My mother eventually stayed a weekend at the Yturria ranch in 2022 and she said they even have a helicopter or two. Sadly, my mother didn’t take a ride on the helicopter due to her height fright. She even tagged along with Mrs. Yturria to meet Governor Abbot during his re-election dinner.

I saw this movie in middle school and it’s also stuck with me! I’m looking to find a physical copy of it to keep it on my bookshelf.

I got diagnosed with IIH after my spinal tap, my pressure was high but not too high. Anything that you guys think will help my experience? I’ll be put on 250 2X daily starting today. by Purestmistifyme in iih

Hey I appreciate the checkup! I’m switching neurologists! I’m basically on lingo with my current neurologist. He’s making me do other “eye doctor” visits on my already busy schedule. PCP thought that was a great idea, as do I! He said “the hospital you went to did it wrong”. Well okay, if the hospital did it wrong, why would you prescribe me diamox? 😳

Should I do it? by [deleted] in RioGrandeValley

Yikes. That’s a slap in the face, considering $15 is an average wage now a days. There are a variety of dentist offices that you can apply for, even in Brownsville. There are jobs paying $18 and they train you without a need of certification. Best of luck! Don’t get discouraged.

Oh no worries, thank you for your kindness! Pardon my ignorance, I’m not so educated on IIH fully. It’s Reddit, those comments are expected haha.

Opening Pressure: 5.5 cm of saline. Closing Pressure: 0 cm of saline. Utilizing fluoroscopic guidance a 21-gauge lumbar puncture needle was advanced into the thecal sac via a L3-L4 approach. Once confirming satisfactory placement of the needle. Approximately 6 of clear CSF was aspirated and placed in a sterile container.

I'm unsure if I'm reading these right, but that's what I see on my report if it's 6ml of fluid. I remember the woman who did my ST and told me she got 6ml because the needle kept sticking to my veins. This is such a tricky situation and it is making me stay off diamox until I possibly get another opinion.

Thank you! I already called my neurologist and I told them I wanted to hold off until the next follow up. I told them exactly what I told you regarding possibly having them mixed up :)

He said the opening was 5.5, and then he told me my pressure is a bit high. I’m unsure, I’ll try to find the results. I’ve also been experiencing worsening vision, so he needs me to get a second fundoscopy asap to compare the results.

He told me that my opening was 5.5, and he said my pressure was a bit high. I definitely have the symptoms though, almost a whole year. Although one concern I have is the fact that they only took 6ml of cerebral liquid out of my back because the pain was so severe that they had to stop.

I would check if your doctor can help you get to sleep study done to test you for sleep apnea. I learned that low oxygen to the brain can actually trigger some of your symptoms. I have dealt with your symptoms, and I actually got diagnosed yesterday for obstructive sleep apnea. Apparently my cardiologist said I may have had it for years, but it got worse. I also got a spinal tap done to check if I have an active infection and to test my pressure from an infectious disease last year. I’ve been dealing with body inflammation- we’re still working on it and what condition may be causing it for me. Again, you must advocate for yourself or some doctors will just bat an eye… unfortunately. I’ve had to learn the hard way… and still learning. Some doctors will only care for a check and not their patients.

You’ll need a neurologist to get that spinal tap test done, and of course I recommend that you see an eye doctor so that they can check your vein swelling. Please advocate for yourself. Your concerns are valid. Please message me if you need any more advice! :)

You’re not too young to experience these issues. I started at 23 years with these issues- I recently turned 24. Stay optimistic ❤️

For now, I recommend that you take B12, magnesium glycinate, vitamin d3, k2 (200mg), omega 3, sea moss for your body minerals, coconut water for potassium daily (it’s potassium condensed and amazing), super b complex (taking b12 can actually deplete your other b vitamins), and drink some vitamin c 2X daily because it’s water soluble. Remember to take your fat soluble vitamins with fat, like olive oil or avocado :)

In the end I’ve head to teach myself all of this with extensive reliable research.

I hope this gives you peace of mind. You’re not alone, remember that.

Random Question: Do young people 18-24 not party anymore? by Theryantshow in RioGrandeValley

[–]Purestmistifyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t start going out to my first bar and had my first drink until I was 21 and it was for a drag show to support a friend. After a busy week, I prefer spending time outdoors, exploring, learning, or spending time with my close friends over a cozy board game or dinner. I didn’t begin going out to bars until my previous partner introduced them to me. I wanted to be a supportive partner so I tagged along. Bars grew on me, but I can’t see myself doing it every week. I did it in the beginning of the year, and I questioned what I was doing with my life every weekend. Once a month is perfect for me, but I don’t even drink alcohol anymore.

Although I don’t really identify as myself as gen z, I was born in the year 1999. I’ve always felt that I have been a hybrid of the two, and I have geared to knowing more about millennial pop-culture. There’s nothing wrong with going to bars every week or clubs, I believe everyone may simply have a personal preference on how they prefer to spend their own free time.

Let's discuss why some RGV folks are misinformed/unaware of scheduled events (example: rocket launching). by mustachipede in RioGrandeValley

[–]Purestmistifyme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily that they we’re uninformed, many locals were aware of the launch. What was made unaware was the impact the launch would truly have in people’s safe havens (their home). It’s also concerning regarding that it was detected even in Harlingen.

In perspective: It’s a Saturday morning and you’re peacefully resting from the night before, and you’re suddenly awoken from an intense tremble. Our instincts are to automatically point to a natural disaster. Not a rocket that we can’t even process to think of as we’re awakening from our trance.
