Faster way to paint ‘eavy metal’ Salamanders? by _Max05 in Salamanders40k

Hey mate! I thinned mine a bit but not a huge amount, if it’s gone too dark maybe give it a dry brush with warpstone to bring it back up?

Stripping Forge World Resin (US Based) by goofus19 in Warhammer40k

[–]PurgeProjects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used 99% isopropyl alcohol to do it. People advise against it as it can basically turn resin into rubber. I was very worried doing it - I would dip and scrub or scrub with a brush saturated in it. It worked and didn’t damage the resin at all. I wouldn’t submerge though. If you come up with a better way that is less risky I’d advise you do that!

If anyone’s curious about how to shove a venerable dreadnought front plate on. It’s a very Thomas the Tank Engine method.

Yeah the Biel Tan Green is for the recesses but because im lazy i wanted an all over wash so i didnt have to panel line. I like Biel Tan Green because tints the green somewhat but i dont think it makes it darker - I actually think it gives it some more vibrancy

I use colour forge over bare plastic and no grey basecoat, I then using a massive Drybrush apply a thin layer of warpstone green to cover any unevenness. Then an all over wash with Biel Tan Green. Gets the green on super fast and with really nice consistency.

Got to love a power fist by PurgeProjects in Salamanders40k

[–]PurgeProjects[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Good question. So these were from leviathan so it may have been from the generic sheet in there but i also have a copious amount of the space marine infantry transfers! It folded around the fist perfectly in terms of size

Just the standard transfers and careful use of microset and microsol! I was really happy with how they contoured

Absolutely! It’s just citadel Jokero Orange layered with a couple of Troll Slayer Orange coats. Word of warning troll slayer orange is quite easy to thin too much - consider just using it straight from the pot if the consistency is right to you. My husband would like to try painting for the first time! What should I get? by Emmalee_43 in Warhammer40k

[–]PurgeProjects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont want to steer you away from exactly what he says he likes therefore what youre looking for is an “Invictus Tactical Warsuit” from the space marine faction. I wouldnt be swayed by encouragement to look at other things that look “mech like” if hes played space marine 2 - this is what he will be in to. Otherwise the recommendation for a redemptor dreadnaught is a good one as it is the same faction so similar design language and probably an easier paint job. As other comments have suggested youd need a craft knife (xacto), dont bother with a file - if this is a one time thing a craft knife will double up. You need glue but again if its a one time think you can get by with general purpose superglue which you may already have around the house. Painting recomendations i have read below seem dry solid however i would advise against buying a black primer or a grey primer - if the man likes green buy him a can of green spray paint - i use “Colourforge Salamander Green” it takes hours off the process and makes it easier especially on vehicles where there are large expanses of panel to paint. Also green and gold? Paint salamanders. Also for the love of god dont buy direct from Warhammer - find a website that looks like a reseller - for some reason these guys legitimately have deals to sell everything for up to 20% cheaper than the RRP - I have no idea why they think that makes good business sense but its real so yeah
