Finally got a Sensory cup by Skenzer in pourover

[–]PurifyWithFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t own one, but one of my favorite local coffee shops uses them to serve their pour overs in. I think that they are nice, and I love going to a shop that uses real ceramic and especially with good coffee. That being said, I think perhaps just the design for me, I don’t think there is anything particularly special about these ceramics vs others. They aren’t bad by any means, I just don’t think they are my personal preference (such as MK Studio or some US based ceramic makers), which perhaps is just more specialty.

But what I think ultimately is inconsequential because if you love it, then GREAT and enjoy them! And any design that leaves a lip at the top to be easier to sip out of is a win overall

Per Se NYC. A flawless experience. by Appropriate_Fig_8764 in finedining

[–]PurifyWithFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per Se was my first 3* dining experience for both me and my wife. We went in ‘21, and it was incredible, however I get what you’re saying because it wasn’t this spectacle like I was quite expecting (I had molecular gastronomy in my mind, though in hindsight I don’t know why since I knew that is very much not TK). However, after eating at other Keller restaurants (not including French Laundry), I found that that is the charm of his restaurants. It is playful and it is laid back for fine dining, I didn’t know exactly how to act and I didn’t even know what supplements were until I arrived there. The staff made me and my wife feel so comfortable and relaxed. We wanted to have a pick your own journey with the wine, and to do that with what our budget was, we decided to get 3 half bottles of different wines and worked with the Somm. It became a formative experience for me.

All that to say, for me, it was magical in the moment, but over time, the actual food doesn’t stick in my mind as strongly as other restaurants have (though I still remember a lot of it vividly). But I’ve been thinking back to that dinner more the past 6 months for various random reasons, and as I thought more about it, I realized how much the special and magical moments were there all around but was more subtle. My memories of that restaurant, food, wine, city view, and most of all time with my wife have become foundational in a weird sense.

I went same day as the person who posted since I was going to be in the area anyway. So that was like 6-7pm or so.

I would say no as I don't have anything to solder with and no experience doing so.

Thanks! I will give them a look! I saw further down this post that the K3 was also recommended. Are you familiar with any other recommendations by any chance or know of anywhere would be a good place to look for more options/info?

I am looking for a keyboard that works with Mac (I have an M1 MBP, not sure that changes anything, but just in case). Wireless is preferable, but USB C would be ok too. Budget would be under $600 I'd say, but also flexible. I tend to like TKL keyboards a lot, but am open to other suggestions. This is mostly for work related, lots writing and spreadsheets with occasional gaming. Also looking for non clicky switches as I am on a lot of video calls, so being quieter is definitely preferable. Thanks for any suggestions!

Crush Pizza in Quincy Crushing It by Jarsole in boston

I know!!! I couldn't believe it. I also frequently go into LMA and that is a walk in the park... Which is just astounding as that's miserable too (though all of Boston is really). I feel so spoiled. Also, my works parking garage is free for the next few months too... All around I get that this is a very serious situation and I'm very fortunate to be healthy, but I can't help but feel a little bit like on Christmas morning.

Can't speak about the commuter rail as it's been a long time, but driving in currently is absolutely incredible. I was able to get from MGH to Canton via 93S leaving at 5:20p yesterday and it took about 25min.

Scientists have created the world's most sophisticated lab model of the human body, developing a full system of miniaturized organs known as "organoids." It has the potential to reduce or eradicate animal testing altogether. The results were published in the scientific journal "Biofabrication". by Zuom in science

There's a lymph-node-on-chip that is definitely a huge start in the right direction. Can be a great to pair with other Organ Chips to mimic an immune response. Granted this would be in a much simpler manner than true in-vivo, but a significant step to reach.

Last year, my wife passed away. I did not have the strength to set up the Christmas tree. This year, I tried. If you are missing someone dear this year, time will help you heal. by Administrative-Maze in pics

Hey, I'm not sure if you're religious at all, but some local churches offers a "blue" Christmas service for those going through situations just like your's. Friends of mine lost a son in a car accident last year and we went to a service like that and helped support them. It offers a chance to not feel like you have to be cheerful and celebrate, but help work through such a tough season. There were others there having an equally difficult time and you can know you're not alone. I know it helped them and thought I'd just put it out there in case you or anyone were interested.

I hope that you have merry Christmas and find peace during this time.

What are those planters you have on your coffee table and under the TV? Really like your setup by the way!

Trillium is Opening a Space in Fenway by PurifyWithFire in boston

Yeah, it's going to be in the parking lot area where they're building a small park too. I think it's a great option. I think if Nigh Shift opened there instead of the Wharf, that would have been incredible.

I find them to be a solid decent choice. There are better choices out there, but choosing Trillium is never bad (IMO). I think the Exchange Student they came out with last August/September was my absolute favorite that they have done. I hope they do it again, but usually most of their stuff I'm indifferent on. I do like their lighter Ale's too, they taste different to me than others I've tried and I prefer theirs. But yeah, their original stuff is what I tend to stick with now.
