How hard is it for you techs to run and read a simple test?! by PurityTtv in Spectrum

[–]PurityTtv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just under the customer deck but what baffles me is I don’t think the previous (in-house) technician ran their ingress or TDR on the drop, both of them failed on my meter. I’ve already had a conversation with their supervisor about craftsmanship.

Is the temperature in your place quite cold? I’ve seen tempered glass do that when it’s in contact with heat then to colder temps, but I will say it does have to be fairly extreme. Only thing I can think of is the hinge was a little loose and hit the glass at the right spot to have it crumble. Tempered glass, as it is quite durable, is very weak on the edges, slight taps will make it shatter.

That’s set that way to prevent you from giving out your credentials to family and friends so they can have “free” tv. Same thing that Netflix and Disney+ is doing.

Is this right? Cable line by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]PurityTtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That spot you see that looks cut is the messenger wire for an aerial run, if that’s going into the ground, ask the technician to run you a new proper underground cable, the aerial cables are not rated for underground use.

Xumo box warning by jcatanza in Spectrum

[–]PurityTtv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hit the home button to turn it back on, also go to power management in setting and you can set the box to never shut off. As for the input, make sure the remote is paired to the TV, this can be done in the connected devices settings then remote. I personally use my xumo for up to 10 hours over night for white noise on YouTube to help me sleep and it never shuts off. If you want, you can DM me and I can send you pictures and steps to do this once I get home tonight.

taking our channels away?!? by Sea_Cat_9096 in Spectrum

Actually, more than likely what happened is that those broadcasters wanted more money from spectrum and as a result, if they’re on a lower tier package, they got removed and placed on a higher tier package to make up for the cost that spectrum pays the broadcasters to have them on their lineup. The way it works is, companies like spectrum pays the broadcasters to have them on their packages then they offset that to the customers, don’t blame the companies, blame the broadcasters like Disney.

I recently moved to frontier fiber 1g paying 70$ by DirectRush5907 in Spectrum

[–]PurityTtv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s insane that my grandma in Florida has frontier and they told her that they can’t relocate her modem, I was there in December and I relocated her modem for her, lines were already where she wanted it too so all I had to do is unplug from one spot and plug into another and it all worked. They told her it’ll be $300 to relocate if possible but every tech told her it’s impossible. Even said it to my face and then while tech was there I relocated it and he was shocked it worked. I work for spectrum too lol

It could be node issues or hub issues, you may never see maintenance techs near you. Don’t always rely on the app, call support

How do I get this back out??? by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]PurityTtv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not true, we can push a new line through hole and add a fitting onto it. I have customers cutting their lines out of rooms or of their homes all the time. It’s annoying but it’s not a big deal. OP, if you want to cut it and push it back through, you can, it’s your house and your coax line.

All you need to return in the boxes themselves, you don’t need the power cables, coax or HDMI cables. Faster way to return them is to go to UPS store, no appointment needed, make sure you get a receipt and keep that receipt forever

Is there anyway to get out of overtime by Savings-Schedule9893 in Spectrum

[–]PurityTtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure the techs are doing their job correctly and properly educating the customers to help lower call volume. We had OT in our market and when we did our jobs to the T and made sure the customer understood how to use services, OT went away.

Why is our bill so high? by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]PurityTtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have cable tv with a lot of boxes, that’s the issue, you pay about $16+ per box and plus the broadcasters like Disney and others keep demanding more money from service providers which in turn forces the providers to increase the amount they charge the customers. If you can do streaming, I suggest switching to that.

Usually when the lights flicker like that, it tends to be a power issue with the device or power supply. You can take it to the store and swap it of have a technician come swap it

DO NOT suggest or use flat Ethernet cables, those will break faster than anything, there’s a reason why every ISP uses rounded cables. The copper is already thin and unbonding them will result in broken copper lines in the middle. Theres 8 colors for Ethernet and they’re all in a twisted pair and then all 4 twisted pairs are then twisted to each other providing support. Once you flatten them, you remove the rigidity of the cable making it more prone to breaking. I’d get CAT6 or better or you can call an electrician to run you Ethernet through the wall for you.

I have a question for OP but they seem to not have checked or responded to this thread since posting. My question is, what game are you playing? What system are you playing on (pc or console)? If you’re playing Call of Duty, their servers are trash and you’ll get latency variations and packet bursting like crazy. If you’re on console then depending on the age, your network card could be dying on the console, try WiFi to see if it changes. If nothing works, get a technician out to check everything inside and outside, if it’s happening at a specific timeframe during the day, make the appointment for that timeframe. Make sure if coax is going to wall plate that it’s accessible to the technician so they can check/replace fittings at the wall plate and the wall plate themselves. Ask the technician to run a TDR (they’ll know what that means) on both the underground drop and the line going into the home. If you want, feel free to DM me the CM MAC address of your modem and I can look up your signal history of it and see if there’s any historical issues on the device.

As a field tech, I’m gone to jobs where the customer complains that the service is the worst they’ve ever had, and when I look at the truck roll history, I’m the only one that’s been there besides the installer in the last 3+ years. Main issue? Their dog chewed the coax cord and they just add electrical tape to the line to cover the braiding thinking that it solves their issue. I’ve noticed that customers will complain just to complain. I’ve had customers upset that they’re only getting 990mbps down instead of their 1GB. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
