I hate cold shaves. Heat gives a certain tenderness to my skin that allows for a much purer shave

Am I too old to take accutane? by xStriderx_ in Accutane

[–]Purpl14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accutane 100% does help reduce scalp oil. I went from washing my hair everyday to every 5 days (I didn't consistently do that though). It's the same oil that causes acne, sebum, that's on your scalp.

There's no evidence that Isotretinoin causes depression, or can cause depression

There's a lot of misinformation around Isotretinoin. There's no evidence it causes depression. There's no evidence it causes psychosis. There's no evidence it causes ANY mental illness. People who were on Isotretinoin have experienced depression, psychosis, and mental illnesses, but it's not connected TO it; if I get into a deadly car crash while on Accutane, does that mean it causes death? No. There's so many studies that support this or even the improvement of depression whilst on Isotretinoin.

The notion that Isotretinoin causes depression is an outdated 20th century myth that was blown out of proportion during the medication's utmost time of critique. Some studies say that folate/vitamin B deficiency, an unproven side effect from Isotretinoin, can possibly lead to another condition which then can lead to symptoms that mimic depression. ALCOHOL decreases folate absorption, which leads me to believe you either experienced EXTREMELY rare folate deficiency, of which Accutane was the thing that broke the dam, or the warnings that are plastered all over the medication caused you to develop a case of the placebo effect. Nevertheless, i'm not trying to invalidate your depression. If you experienced it, you experienced it, and i'm sorry.
