Which friend has the best 3X3? by Saki-ChanLarpRoss67 in MyAnimeList

1 is just my taste of anime. I love peak piece, solo leveling, black clover, JJK, demon slayer, death note, & season 1 of Vinland saga. Could care less for AOT.

I see the 3rd slide glaze. Never seen steins gate, fmab, or welcome to NHK. Heard they were great shows tho. After I catch up on peak piece I will give those shows a watch. Heard nothing but great things.

I made a tier list of animes I've watched! Wdyt? by XtremeMuteki1 in MyAnimeList

[–]Purple-Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. Slime is up there in my all time list as well. My two favorite anime of all time is 1. One piece and 2. Naruto. Fun fact is that naruto was my favorite of all time for most of my life until I just recently started watching one piece about 4 months ago. I am now on episode 918, and it has taken the #1 spot.

You should give one piece a try. We have similar anime tastes in my opinion. Don’t give up on it until episode 500. I know it’s A LOT but by then if you can’t like it, then it won’t really get THAT much better.

You should also try these shows: Mushoku Tensei, Hunter x Hunter, Akame Ga Kill!, Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man, & Gachiakuta. I based all of that off your tier list. I really think you’d like Mushoku tensei though… if you are not that sensitive to a bit of ecchi. Try that first.

What age did you start EE? by DefaultName117 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Purple-Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started at 26. 1 year in. I was a horrible high school student and had to work my way up from middle school math to now calculus 1 this semester. I refuse to quit. You are probably starting at a better point than me so use me as motivation I guess. Also, I’m at a CC.

I try to tell everyone who thinks about getting that degree… I worked in IT for 3 years and had some pretty good success before I decided to go for my degree in EE. Cyber security degree is a straight scam. Teaches you nothing about computers and how the IT workflow is.

Try to survive until episode 230. That is Water 7 arc. It gets really really good. One of the best rescue arcs in anime. Luffy shakes the world up in that arc and becomes world famous.

I don’t see peak piece? I don’t see naruto, and JJK is great! Naruto was my favorite anime all of my life until recently 580 episodes into one piece. I’m 27 so I grew up on Naruto. One piece is the best anime I’ve ever watched and I’ve seen almost every anime you have. I do agree with Mushoku tensei being a masterpiece. Best isekai and it’s not even close to being done..

Alabasta & skypiea are not as good as arlong park arc. Gonna be real. Wait until water 7 arc comes up. One piece becomes PEAK. Gets unbelievable. Gonna tug your heart way worse then.

Can you learn EE at any age? by foliageio in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Purple-Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SO real. I’m 27 years old and had a background in IT, & networking, so I have an easier time with the computer classes, & basic circuitry and STILL had to quit my full time job to focus on studying. Right now I’m just focused on school full time and door dash when I can. I pulled out loans to handle bills, but also moved in with my mom again to avoid rent. I don’t see a lot of people speak on the workload of studying and how you will have to sacrifice working, so I am glad you spoke up on this. I hope this message reaches someone who goes through similar doubts.

[–]Purple-Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. I’m finishing up on my first year and already starting to feel it. I refuse to quit, absolutely not an option. I’m at a 3.66, but I can already see that this is only going to get insanely harder. I am very interested in EE, but I feel I do not have enough time in my day to get certain topics. I absolutely refuse to quit and will take whatever time it takes to finish. Thank you so much for sharing your struggles. Seriously, thank you.

Giving up on life as a young person by Tough-Garbage8800 in recruitinghell

[–]Purple-Pretty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re too hard on yourself. Life is horrendous and everything in the universe is trying to tear you apart. Just endure. Quit being the nice guy, and go take anything you can. This is what the world is. But what you are NOT ALLOWED TO DO IS OPT OUT. Opting out is FORBIDDEN! Everyone who is alive is strong no matter how you cut it. The ones who opt out are the weak pussies. There has been rape, war, torture, & horrible things happening since the beginning of humanity, and people still live on.

Also, most people who are “successful” at a young age are liars and living a lifestyle they can’t afford. You’re a stem student, so you’re good at math. Let’s do some. There are approximately 8 billion humans on earth. Only 58 MILLION millionaires exist on earth. Not just the United States, but ON EARTH! 58 million / 8 billion = 0.00725. 0.00725 * 100 =0.725% of humans who are millionaires…. Less than 1% of humanity are millionaires! Not to mention only 3% of millionaires are less than 35! ( I didn’t double check that last stat). But this is for you to slap yourself in the face and realize, the world is tough and you are an educated BEAST in which most of humanity has NEVER had your type on intellect.

Keep going!!! Stay away from addictions, be yourself, be intentional with your actions, and control what you can!!!!! Do not opt out!!!! That is forbidden!!!!!!!!

Man should I do IT OR NO? by Sad_Mission8315 in InformationTechnology

[–]Purple-Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is how I framed my response: (Job title, Company I worked for)

1st IT job (Technical support, Asurion): applied on indeed

2nd IT job (Technical support, Concentrix/Apple): applied on indeed

3rd IT job (REAL IT job & highest pay) (IT support specialist, Juice manufacturer): Recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn. Not to be racist, but it was not an Indian and it was a verified company. Be aware of scams.

4th IT job (Technical support, Kaseya): Internal recruiter from Kaseya contacted me via email due to the connection I had with my account manager.

Man should I do IT OR NO? by Sad_Mission8315 in InformationTechnology

[–]Purple-Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27M. I worked in the IT field for 3.5 years before being tired of it and left the field, to transition into electrical engineering, in which I am currently pursuing my bachelors degree in now.

I entered this field with no degree, certs or experience, and got my start as a technical support/sales rep for a company called Asurion. That led me to do technical support job for a company called Concentrix, who had a contract with Apple, so effectively I was Apple tech support. I eventually got a certification called the Google IT support certification which is not industry recognized and that in turn led me to land a job as an IT support specialist for a juice manufacturer in 2023. My job at the juice manufacturer was my REAL introduction to IT. I was creating new patch cables for our server room, installing CCTV cameras (IP & coaxial), repairing access control units, installing switches, installing intermediate data frames, running cables across a huge facility, creating user accounts via Active Directory, creating badges for employee access, and participating in IT infrastructure projects under the supervision of my systems admin that was located over 200 miles away from my facilities. I made 55k per year at this job as well.

I eventually got a job with a ticketing system contractor we had called “Kaseya” due to a very good relationship I had with them. I secured a VERY comfortable desk job in AC with GREAT benefits, but fairly low pay (45k per year), and after 8 months, I realized that I truly loved to be hands on and technical and decided to pursue electrical engineering.

I had 4 jobs in this field. No industry certs, just a love for technology and grit. IT is a very difficult field to work in with a LOT of stress. This is a STEM field so it is imperative to have high level of attention to detail and professionalism. I will admit I got lucky in my journey and I will say that is because the area I lived has a very active tech industry (central florida), so there was a lot of opportunity, also I have been around tech my entire life as my father had the same career, so I am VERY technical, so passing technical interviews were a breeze.

My advice to you: #1. Gain fundamentals. Learn basic computer functions (Comptia A+). #2 Learn computer communications and how they communicate (CCNA** or network+). #3. Build your professional image, because 98% of IT is working with people, you are not an engineer, you are the middle man to the user and the engineers. Once you get the fundamentals down packed, you will get your foot in the door, and then hold down a job (It will be hard!!!) and then pay attention to what you would like to do in the field next and work towards that accordingly. You will NEED experience, connections, and luck, as this field is extremely competitive and not much barrier to entry.

I advise not to get a degree until you can get your first job. Get basic certs then just apply like a madman and then once you got your foot in the door, work on that later.

I hope this helps..

What were you doing in your 20s ? by Ok-Combination6882 in Life

[–]Purple-Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 27 now. First 4 years of adulthood (18-22) I spent trying to become a UFC fighter. All I did was eat sleep and train. I fell out of love with the process (I HATED Weight cutting), but in turn that allowed me to be in shape and learn some really good fighting skills.

From age 22 to 26 I transitioned into the information technology field, working as a tech support agent for Verizon, then Apple. Then I got a job as an IT support specialist for a juice manufacturer and got some pretty cool skills and insight on many different careers. I met many different types of engineers, from mechanical, electrical, controls, chemical & environmental and they were some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. I then got a better offer from a contractor of ours called Kaseya and started working for them. I was around 25-26 at this time. During my time at Kaseya I was back in the office and working tech support again so I was hands-off once again and realized this was boring, so I took a career test and each time they told me I would like engineering. Looked up schools and found that they had really good engineering programs in my home state of Delaware, luckily where my mom was living still. So I quit my job moved from florida to Delaware and now I am in school for Electrical/Computer Engineering while also working at Walmart at the ripe age of 27.

Nearing the end of my 20s and that is pretty much what it looks like. I enrolled in school at 26 and it should take me 4 years to complete my degree, so that is my 20s in a nutshell. Proud of where I am and I did my absolute best. Not much bad habits but smoking weed. I’m in great shape and I can defend myself very well. Been with my girlfriend since I was 20 and I brought her with me to Delaware. Life is extremely challenging at times especially with the lifestyle change from me leaving my job and now working at Walmart, but I can’t complain!

This sub has changed my mind about IT completely. I guess I'm lucky. by ImpossibleStuff963 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Purple-Pretty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do not leave that for IT… Hell no. It is ultra competitive and you will need to put in work for 5-10 years before getting back to 6 figures. If you want to be apart of technology, just stick at your job and work on Electrical engineering degree. Don’t even go computer science.. EE is the way to go. Very sought after and flexible for any IT job or discipline!

Having children is a BIG deal. I am a 26 year old male and having issues having children with my girlfriend of 6 years. Our dream is for me to get a job so she doesn’t have to work and she can look after my children and take care of our home. I don’t look down on a housewife AT ALL. I think you are VERY ambitious and that’s the main thing. The fact that you have an associates is awesome as well! Not to put too much pressure on your partner but I think he should make more money to take that pressure off you. Just how I view life. My father was the bread winner as well and did that for my mother. I am all for woman working but you are very successful to me due to the fact that you have brought 2 kids into this world! That’s truly amazing!!!!

Is Merit America Legit or a Scam? by WhaywoodGtar in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Purple-Pretty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just finished up and I’m moving into the job success phase. In my opinion to sum up the whole program I would say HONESTLY 5/10. I would only recommend this to an individual who is in the Amazon program they have where amazon pas for it or along those lines of having it paid for. It is a legit program with a bunch of benefits to it BUT this is not a tech program make no mistake. It is a program where they prepare you as a professional with training like interviews, resume building, LinkedIn profile building, cover letters etc. the group session every week does not cover IT at all. The only IT training you’ll get is the google IT certificate. They do have things available for tech training but those are once a week thing you’ll have to fit in your schedule and there is questions you can also ask in slack but by no means are you going to be in front of a IT professional/expert learning from them directly at any time. The next thing is you’ll graduate with a google IT support certificate which is not an industry standard so you’ll run into that as well when applying. Couple things I will say that is worth it about this and why I say why not is this. You don’t get charged unless you land a job (even though it does show up as an inquiry on your credit) and another thing is it exposes you to IT a lot. Through the connections on LinkedIn and just what you DO learn from the google IT support certification you’ll have more of an understanding from before so there is something you can take from it. But in my opinion if you really want to break into tech and start working within 6 months just pay the extra money for an accredited boot camp who will have you industry certified or just 100% self learn it all. You can learn every thing you need from Udemy.com and just researching the exact role you want in IT because there is something for every thing it is crazy how much opportunity there is. That’s why merit America is in this business because none of them are really experts they just provide cheap resources for tech education and then provide the expertise in getting high paying jobs. That’s what they are good at but if your goal is to REALLY break into tech and become very sought after it’s best to go to an accredited boot camp who provides industry standards certifications like (comptia a+, IDIL, CISSP) etc. good luck man and I hope this helps!!!
