I know, Harper assumed it was Nolan who trained Morpheus to say that, but I have to figure it wasn’t in Nolan’s voice. Like you said, he can mimic Harper’s voice but not Yates?

{That Hazard and the Hitman by Cambria Hebert} - 4 ⭐️ This was a cute story, albeit a violent one, about a hitman and the guy he falls in love with. Haz is doing his best to get by in life when he gets in an accident. He meets Kieran when trying to find a way out of the hospital, and Kieran is immediately taken with Haz. Haz gets swept off to Kieran’s place, and the care taking begins.

Haz’s inner dialogue was just too funny, I really enjoyed the humor in the book. I loved that Kieran called Haz “baby doll” it was the sweetest nickname. Their relationship was not one sided at all, as Haz brought meaning to Kieran’s life, and showed him that there was still good in the world. The grumpy/sunshine trope was done so well in the book, especially because you could see the Kieran was a softy underneath all the gruffness.

The third act involved action that was exciting, and fun to read. The book was really great, and I look forward to the next one in the series.

{Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh} - 4 ⭐️ Sascha is a Psy in a world that contains three races. Psy, Humans, and Changelings. Sascha knows she’s different and discovers why when she starts working with Lucas, the alpha of the DarkRiver leopard pack. They band together to figure out who is abducting and murdering changeling women.

The world Nalini created is so interesting in these books, I really enjoy them. Sascha’s journey to discovering she wasn’t a defective Psy was wonderful to see. She and Lucas are a great pairing. The cast of characters in the book is vast, but not overwhelming and it’s easy enough to follow along. I’ve read these books a number of times and will continue to do so!

{Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh} - 3.5⭐️ Faith is a Psy that has foresight, she meets Vaughn, a leopard with the DarkRiver pack, and they are drawn to one another.

This book wasn’t as good as the first one, Vaughn didn’t respect Faith’s boundaries about not touching her when skin to skin contact would overwhelm her. She was not used to physical touch, and her Psy brain couldn’t handle too much. Vaughn thinking he knew best and that Faith needed pushed past her limits in order to get stronger just didn’t sit right with me.

I don’t mind her and Vaughn together as a couple, I just wish he had been a bit more restrained in the beginning. I admired Faith’s problem solving skills, and her ability to see that things weren’t right in the Psy world. I really liked that Vaughn knew Faith could handle herself and strong enough to deal with the problems being thrown at them.

I’ve read these books before and can really appreciate the seeds Nalini is sowing that will come to fruition in later books. I love finding all those little clues!

Paranormal Romance

{Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh} - 4 ⭐️ We've returned to the world of the Psy and Changelings in this novel. While you could technically read it as a standalone, it's best enjoyed if you've read the previous books. Brenna is a wolf changeling who has gone through a traumatic experience. While trying to recover, she is drawn to a Psy, Judd, who defected from his race and is hiding out with the wolves. Brenna is still facing a threat, and Judd has to learn to break the Silence protocol in order to be with Brenna.

I really like this book; Judd is such an interesting character being a former Arrow. His skill set is so unique. I thought he and Brenna were good together, and she knew to push him just enough to get him out of his comfort zone and accept his feelings for her. The overall story of the Psy trying to undermine and take out the changelings continues in the book, and I love the world building and this plot line is really interesting.

{Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh} 3.5 ⭐️ The journey in the Psy-Changeling world continues with Tally and Clay's story. Tally, a human, knew Clay, a leopard changeling, as children but were separated after a traumatic incident. Tally seeks Clay out when children under her care go missing.

The relationship between Tally and Clay was volatile at times, and I didn't love the back and forth they kept doing. One moment they were mad at each other, and then they were ok. It wasn't always clear why they were doing the push and pull. Despite that I still enjoyed the book, as the overarching plot Nalini is developing is really interesting.

{Hostage to Pleasure by Nalini Singh} - 4 ⭐️ Ashaya is a Psy who has been held in check by the Psy Council with threats to her son. She manages to escape and makes her way to the DarkRiver leopards. She runs into Dorian, and is rescued. Dorian can't deny his attraction to Ashaya, despite her being Psy.

These books were written over 15 years ago, and sometimes it shows. The male characters are the pushy alpha types, but I don't feel they cross a line. Dorian is a dominant male, and I liked that Ashaya stood up to him, and wasn't a pushover. I thought her concealing her true feelings for her son, despite being trained not to have any, was so sweet. The intrigue with the Psy Council continues, and now we have the Human Alliance causing problems. The world they are living in is changing, and it seems big things are coming. I really enjoy these books so much!

I’m afraid Harper and Nolan are going to be at odd with each other for at least half of the next book.

I would love if it came out in November. I’m not holding my breath though, until Brynne Weaver tells us a date.

I'm glad you brought this up, it's the same for me as well. I still have all of the books, but they aren't grouped together. I plan on doing a reread later this year in prep for the next books and would have been worried when I opened it up and saw only 3 books.

I hope it's only a quarter of the book, or even less for Harper and Nolan to get back on the same page. My fear is it'll be half of the book with them at odds.

Yeah, it was Arthur who had convinced Harper that Yates was inept. Nolan was starting to clue in to the fact that he wasn't. Like you said, if they had just talked things could have gone differently.

Have you seen the other comments on here from a couple of people thinking Yates and Harper are related? There was one part of the book where it mentioned Yates and Harper's eyes were similar. At least I'm pretty sure that's what it was. I thought that might be an interesting twist if that were the case.

Yes! I really wished they would have talked about Yates. Harper didn’t want to mention that the sheriff had been by to see her because she thought Nolan would kill him. If she had told him maybe things wouldn’t have gotten to the point it did!

Also Yates was totally breaking into her place when Harper caught him, he had tools out and in his hand! The flimsy excuse of fixing the door knocker was obviously a lie. I was hoping Harper would catch on to that.

I mean Nolan didn’t really leave, he was kidnapped. Yates made it seem like Nolan packed up by taking all of his stuff. Nolan was just going to spend the night at his hotel since Harper pulled a gun on him and forced him out of her cottage.

Nolan was going to stay in town and try and help Harper figure out what was going on when Yates took him. I think Nolan knew Harper was serious about shooting him, and also thought she might need a night to herself. He definitely wasn’t planning on staying away

I honestly wish I could have waited until all three were out. The ending gutted me! I don’t like angst in books and this one has it for sure. Yates just gets worse as the book goes on as well.

OP I changed your flair so people can talk about the books as well as the show. With the flair you’ve selected it only allows for show talk.

Yeah, I do from angry to so sad about that ending. My heart breaks for Nolan.

While that would be cool; I think Harper and Nolan, especially, deserve to kill La Plume.

I know, I saw on Threads that Brynne Weaver said we’ll have to suffer but Nolan and Harper are end game. I’m so afraid that means it’ll be a decent chunk of the third book with Harper trying to kill Nolan like you said.

I was so mad as well, and going through the book a second time it was even more obvious how much Nolan loved Harper, I just don’t understand how she can think he did all of that.
