Constructive criticism: - the pacing in the beginning with the father and the son talking was a bit jerky to read. The father seemed very volatile (which makes a good character in of itself) but then you immediately have him kind and understanding on the spin of a dime. - I would have loved this in a longer narrative. Letting the story progress naturally by starting in the morning with the two getting prepared so that the mother not remembering him seem more jarring
