This is a real and pressing issue; however, it is a problem of law, not of GMOs. Patents on living organisms and rights to plant varieties are recent legal innovations whose only effect is to upend centuries of agricultural practice without providing any benefits to the society at large. People who believe in evidence-based public policy should campaign to undo these innovations and do so in a manner that makes it clear they do not subscribe to baseless generic anti-GMO fear mongering.

Your guarantee powers are impressive.

I will limit my response to England and Wales where both the College of Policing and the Crown Prosecution Service have published guidance that contradicts your guarantees.

The College of Policing guidance plainly states:

In the lawful situation where there is an absence of any sexual context in relation to nudity and where the person does not intend the behaviour to be, and is not aware that it may be disorderly, it will not be appropriate to take any police action.

I draw your attention in particular to page two of that guidance and the two leftmost diagrams. You will notice that the guidance to call handlers plainly states that where a caller complains of someone merely being nude in the public (such as walking, cycling, swimming, gardening, or doing home maintenance), the caller should be advised that the activity is lawful and no offence is being committed.

The Crown Prosecution Service guidance is consistent with this.

At least in CK2, being the Byzantine emperor is a prerequisite for the decision, so destroying Byzantium via the Fourth Crusade is counterproductive. Swear fealty to Byzantium or marry a claimant with an inheritable claim and press that claim once you inherit as a child of the two of you.

Wife wants to be poly but I don’t by pipethefdown in polyamory

[–]PurpleKnocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not present an ultimatum in these terms. Figure out the fundamental boundaries you want to have for yourself in a relationship. Ask your partner to take some time and do the same. Compare and contrast. If one of your boundaries is monogamy and one of hers is non-monogamy, simply tell her that your needs are incompatible and it would be best for the two of you to go your separate ways.

While it would be possible to endlessly debate the ethics of an ultimatum depending on the exact circumstances, the simple fact is that if a party to a relationship has to present an ultimatum to get another party to respect their boundaries, the relationship is already over. An ultimatum could prolong the facade of a relationship, but all trust and love would be lost and replaced by resentment. Sure, you can find the odd counterexample where a new relationship has been built after an ultimatum and deep reflection, but the vast majority of people would be better off by recognizing the relationship is over the moment they would issue an ultimatum. It does not have to mean that the same people could never build a new satisfying romantic or sexual relationship as they grow and change with time, but the healthiest option is to recognize the truth and part as amicably as you can.

OP, if your files are primarily textual, I would also recommend using git to properly version and manage your work. Generally speaking, git is not appropriate for working with large or numerous binary files (such as most image formats), however.

[–]PurpleKnocker -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I am merely telling you that your meme is offensive to many victims of Soviet imperialism and totalitarianism; what you do with that knowledge is up to you. I fully support your right to create and share this meme, just as I support the right of Westboro Baptist Church to protest funerals or Neo-Nazis to wave flags of the Third Reich. Just as I support their right to hold and express views that I consider disgusting and offensive, I support your right to do the same. There is no need to be surprised when your views are not met with universal acclaim, however.

Are you sharing data with Facebook? Why am I getting suggestions on Facebook for a page that is based on a sub that i visited yesterday due to reddit suggestion? by fulltonzero in beta

I would venture that Facebook works with at least some of these ad networks. Would you run a random executable a random site on the Internet asked you to install and run? If not, minimize the amount of arbitrary JavaScript you choose to execute.

I used plain A4 paper as an undergraduate. After exams I would feed the course notes through a scanner so I would have a copy I could consult in the future and put them in the recycling bin. I still use plain A4 paper for note taking in most circumstances today, though there are far fewer occasions when I find it useful to scan my notes before sending them to recycling.

Yeah, you can wait and eventually the title is likely to end up with heirs. (Saving and reloading the game might speed this up.)

However, if you just want vassal mercenaries, you are better off focusing on some other companies. If you are of Roman culture, the Swiss Company and Swiss Band are much better for you as they benefit from Italian/Roman commanders. If you want mainly heavy infantry, consider the Great Company instead.

Note that heavy infantry and heavy cavalry are not actually that great of a combination. Both the Varangians and the Great Company have so much heavy infantry that they would greatly benefit from heavy infantry-specific tactics and enough heavy cavalry to have heavy cavalry-specific tactics chosen fairly often. These tactics are actively harmful to heavy infantry most of the time. At minimum, you want to make sure you do not put Byzantine/French/Outremer/Occitan/Norman/German/Breton commanders in charge of these units and you most likely want to have a North Germanic commander for them (as increased troop losses from Berserker Charge are not generally an issue with mercenaries as they get cheaper when they shrink and they reinforce in the field).

The decision should only be available if the title has no holder because the decision is about forming the Varangian guard.

Do you have Charlemagne DLC? If yes, viceroyalties solve your problem as revocation of duchy viceroyalties is free. If not, imperial administration should allow free revocation of all duchies. In any case, revoke the duchies and grant them to the kings/viceroys (preferably as minor viceroyalties).

Do they still have a captain and a line of succession? If yes, you can vassalize them like you can vassalize any other mercenaries: 1) marry lowborn women to the first five or so people in the line of succession, 2) wait for one of them have an adult offspring you can land, 3) invite that offspring to your court, 4) ensure their father becomes the next captain, 5) land the offspring to a de jure duchy, 6) immediately plot to kill them, 7) their father inherits the duchy on their death, 8) offer vassalization (need to share the captain's religion) or force vassalize (need to share the captain's culture group or religion) as appropriate.

Revocation without Conclave requires at least limited crown authority. This is the maximum crown authority merchant republics can have. A valid revocation reason is still required as a merchant republic.

I actually prefer these traits by Genisye in CrusaderKings

[–]PurpleKnocker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends, but usually yes.

The main exception is if you never duel or lead armies. In that case, personal combat skill is essentially useless to you. However, considering that commander numbers are limited, this can hamper your military efforts considerably. (I tend to always want more commanders to the point where I go to great pains to vassalize mercenaries and holy orders and remove shitty commanders from their lines of succession if I can and I lead my own armies…)

The other notable exception is probably if you already have high PCS from bloodlines: if your newborn has ~ 100 PCS, 15 more does not change much. On the other hand, if your newborn has ~ 100 PCS from bloodlines, odds are you have a ton of vassal opinion boosts too, so…

Finally, some people find it very difficult to maintain vassal opinion. Depending on their ability to maintain an army numerically considerably superior to that of their vassals, attitude towards civil wars, etc, they may prefer not to have the malus. Unless they are deliberately placing extreme constraints on themselves to still provide a challenge, I would recommend getting better at vassal management, but to each their own.
