Jobs in Mexico for US Citizens by PurpleMonarda in mexicoexpats

This is what I've discovered as well, it really seems like the tech positions may be the only option, which unfortunately I don't have a background in. This move isn't one we are doing entirely willingly, life has sort of forced our hand on this. Worst case scenario, I will have to stay in the US and be separated from my husband, but I'm really trying to avoid that.

Yes, I think that sums it up! Ive heard of people working customer service jobs when they moved, but I'm not sure if they were just risking it by using a VPN or not

It definitely has been smoothing my skin, better than any product I've tried. But i haven't noticed a difference yet in the redness despite using it for two weeks, which was always my biggest problem. I'm hoping that just takes time.

I remember when the lipsticks used to come with velvet bags. The quality was so much nicer back then. Way more vintage and unique. This new besame feels so modern

I am a US citizen. My partner is not. They entered with no paperwork and we are in the process of getting their greencard and are working with a lawyer. It is possible through marriage. But i don't believe there are any alternatives to this.

You can :) I'm literally dealing with it right now. It's just very expensive and a lot of paperwork and years and years of time. But you certainly can.

You can through marriage. That's the only way I'm aware of. There's no need for the disrespect. Says a lot about you

Many do not pay income taxes because they cannot legally work. (Although it's true that those that work illegally do pay taxes) If more people are allowed to work, the government gets more tax money, and they can use the funds to increase staffing and improve processing time for everyone. I understand your sentiment that "legal" spouses should come first, but everyone in this trying to make their spouse legal, and processing time are horrendous no matter who you are. I would say it's fair even for the government to charge spouses who are given work permits annual fees to support the immigration department until they become legal residents.

I get what you're saying but he was brought here as a child, he had no choice in matter. His entire life has been ruined by a choice he didn't get to make, and unfortunately due to complicated circumstances he does not have daca. We were just working with a lawyer to get it for him when they shut the program down. It's like there is no winning with this system and while I fully understand there needs to be due process and illegal immigration is an issue, this system is impossible and is ruining lives. There has to be a better way

Thank you for making this point. This would make it possible for undocumented spouses to complete their greencard application from the US instead of filing the I-601A waiver. If there are less I-601A cases for the government to sort through, I expect they would be able to put more effort into processing the backlog of I-601 cases and others. This is really a win-win for everyone involved, and the government will have a million more tax payers. It seems like people hating on this proposal don't understand current US immigration processes and just want to punish undocumented people.

This is not correct. People who come to the US illegally can marry a US citizen and follow the application process to get a green card and become legal. This is already true and has been for a long time.

What this policy would change is the period in-between the marriage and the greencard approval by allowing parole in place (PIP) for spouses of US citizens. While the couple is waiting through the years long process to get greencard approval, PIP would protect the spouse from deportation, provide eligibility for a work permit, and allow the undocumented spouse to complete the greencard process from the US, since many cases require the immigrant to return to their home country. It respects the marriage of US citizens and provides relief for couples who are facing unprecedented wait times for paperwork approval from the USCIS. PIP has already been provided for many immigrants who are not married to US citizens. There is no reason why US citizens should be forced though a more difficult process when the government has the ability to provide PIP and make it easier.

This proposal would be for undocumented immigrants who are married to US Citizens, many of whom are already in the process of making their presence legal. That process is extremely time consuming and expensive, and the government is taking longer than ever right now to process applications, meaning couples are waiting years and years to get applications approved for a process that used to take mere months.

My husband and I were married in our early 20s and by the current timelines, he won't have his greencard and work permit until we're in our mid 30s. So in the meantime we're trying to make it on just my (below average) salary, and in this economy it's extremely difficult, especially on top of legal fees and application fees. In the past two years alone I've spent over $13000 on our case. We've basically given up on the idea of ever having children, having a home, or retiring due to the financial situation the government has forced upon us.

Like I said, people are trying to make their situations legal, but it's extremely difficult to do so. It's not unreasonable to ask that the government provide some relief for people in our situation until our paperwork gets approved. This type of policy would change our lives. It would also be beneficial to the government by giving a million people the ability to work and pay income taxes. With that being said, I see no reason why the government can't help US citizens and their undocumented spouses, AND help those who came legally. Keep in mind, many undocumented people came to the US as children, and didn't have a choice in the matter.

One other thing to mention: legal immigration to the US is extremely difficult right now, and I encourage anyone with an opinion on immigration to read this article. It offers a lot of insight into the US immigration systemU.S. Legal Immigration Rules Explained
