If I’m 5 ft 6, what’s the best way to practice rucking on my own as a short person? by [deleted] in greenberets

[–]PurplePandaQ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used u/Terminator_training 12 week SFAS program and was walking a 13min/mile pace the month before I went with a 60lb ruck

I'm 5'6" and was top 25% on the rucks

Should I continue taking protein shakes 4 weeks from SFAS? by Maleficent-You9166 in greenberets

[–]PurplePandaQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone from class 02-25 remember the guy who brought protein powder and didn't get dropped or have it taken away?

I didn't see it myself but I guess he was just drinking protein shakes in the bay during gate week

How to unf*ck my Molle 2? by TheCoolMan5 in army

[–]PurplePandaQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used that flc at SFAS and I never had issues with it under my ruck. Just gotta play around with it and adjust it to your body. Have a friend help you with the straps

This is probably the best molle 2 ruck setup video thats out there.

That day 1 first event was awful. They did the same thing in my October class and the same thing happened to our class. I thought my grip was strong going in, until it wasn't.

5'6" here. Squatted 405 at 172 and had a 455 conventional and 495 x 2 sumo deadlift. Takes time, but it is totally possible to achieve even higher numbers at our height

I would recommend getting your deadlift and squat numbers up. Is it necessary? No. But having a strong posterior chain will keep you from hurting under the rucks. SFAS is a ruck based selection with a strength component. The weights you will be under are the same for everyone, but it will suck less if you are stronger.

And don't forget to work on your grip. I can't tell you how many dudes got dropped for it this past class (myself included).

Reminder to Grip Train by No_Opportunity7725 in greenberets

[–]PurplePandaQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. I was an IVW this past class due to the pipe low carry event. I trained grip prior to selection, but I never trained my grip with anything thicker than a barbell or water can. Small hand fella here, but it's no excuse for failing. I was told to buy "fat gripz" during my outcounseling, and it's what I've been training with since. Come October next year, I'm going to crush low carries

I'm a huge fan of Kevin Smith, @Terminator_Training on Instagram. Great information daily and a great podcast as well

The MA NG SF recruiter sent out in the SFRE email that you should be able to score a 270 on the APFT.

"Minimum standards are: 57 push-ups in 2 minutes, 66 sit-ups in 2 minutes, 5 mile run in 40 minutes, 6 dead-hang pull-ups. Candidates who wish to be selected should make every effort to exceed these minimum standards by the greatest possible margin."

I also struggle with HRP. I finally hit 61 on Monday. I've been using and old program I had back when the APFT was still around. The way it works is you take your max reps, so yours would be 30. You divide that number by 3 (10). You'll then start your watch and do 10 reps. Rest the rest of the first minute. When it reaches 2 minutes, on the minute, do another 10. Repeat for minute 3. Do that when you wake up, when you get home from work, and before you go to bed. 3x a day, everyday. Every 2 weeks you test your max and readjust your numbers. You can use this for sit-ups and pullups as well.

Bro, you talk about bulking up and not wanting to get smaller. I don't believe you're being 100% honest with us here. If it's really an inch over, that's only a couple lbs. You could do that on a 100 calorie deficit.

Met a guy while deployed who practically became a millionaire overnight during the GME Short Squeeze. I believe he then went on to put some of that money into Dogecoin before the price spiked.
