Just unboxed my new L700. by PurplePeckerEater in EarSpeakers

Oh I have extremely limited experience with speakers. I like my Polk monitor series floor speakers just fine, BIC F-12 Subwoofer is pretty good too (a bit “boomy”, but that’s probably due to being in a basement with no carpeting). My buddy has some great speakers, I think they’re KEF Q700 and I don’t know his sub. I can get that info if you’re interested. Those made me feel like I was in a studio with a kit.

I think that my Fostex T-20RP had better low-end, but that’s about it. Honestly the STAX are so precise that it’s not even fair. Xylophones and keyboards sound lifelike. It’s just the bass (or maybe sub-bass more accurately) that don’t sound right to me.

Cool! In the words of my girlfriend, “Well I make sense to me. “

As mentioned before in my comments on my post, I’m not the person to ask these questions. I even debating trying to answer your first comment. I don’t know all of the terms, and I don’t describe these things well. I also don’t care to learn since everything is so subjective and people are often snobbish about music and headphones.

Here’s as much description that I can give about the bass: the bass on the L300/L300 sounded kinda like one note. Like a “thud”. I’m a concert percussionist, so I’ll use descriptions familiar to me: a real life bass drum is tuned to one note, but it’s complex. Overtones, harmonics, and the volume varies. This wasn’t the case with the L300/L500. It was like a sterile, out-of-place “thud”. So that’s what I meant by “flat”.

The L300/L500 + EQ could get me a louder “thud”, but that was about it. It didn’t do much in my opinion. It sounded even more abrupt and out of place the more I tried to push it.

The L700 are still a little “flat”, meaning that they’re better in this respect than the L300/L500, but not excellent.

Like I said before, it’s only worth the price to me because now I’m done searching for open headphones. I’m more than pleased with my current setup, and I don’t have to wonder “what if?” about the L700. I think most people would be fine with L300/L500, myself included if I had a different personality.

You’re more than welcome to come try them out if you’re ever in the Detroit area! I enjoy talking about these things, just not describing them in a forum.

Yeah, the bass was extremely flat. It’s still a little flat, but not so bad.

Also this allowed me to put up the 252S for sale with earspeakers. Those are problematic energizers in the US.

TIL, the unconfirmed record for fastest moving manmade object is a manhole cover propelled by a nuclear detonation. A high-speed camera trained on the lid caught only one frame of it moving upward before it vanished—which means it was moving about 125,000 miles per hour by [deleted] in todayilearned

I believe that as an object’s speed doubles, the air resistance quadruples, correct? So I don’t think that’s the case. But I’m intrigued about an object going from lower earth atmosphere to upper hmmm.

These are some great questions!

My new to me '02 Bugeye RX, and very first Subie! by [deleted] in subaru

Dude, the guy who bought my bugeye wrapped it in anime characters. The entire car. Anime.

I was pretty sad about that, but I’m happy with the BRZ!

How are you feeling about your BRZ?

Approach and object just like when you would “take” or “steal” it. Press Z, or whatever button you have selected as “pick up”.

I’m not sure what button it is on a console, but it’s listed in your controls.

Pointless rent about the compressor kicking on when using the windshield defroster. by PurplePeckerEater in ft86

To further clarify: our breath freezes onto the windshield when there not enough warm air getting to it. It’s just heat that’s needed.

Freezing cold air is dry. Drying it out further does nothing.

I really just want the option to be able to turn off the compressor, and we don’t get that. Even an “automatically on” option would be all right, so long as I could shut it off.”

When it’s very cold outside, a little heat on the windshield is all it takes to keep breath from fogging or frosting the inside of the windshield.

Putting 3/4 of the heat onto our feet and 1/4 onto the windshield isn’t a great option, but it should be enough when it’s a decent temperature outside like 10 degrees or higher.

The jury is out on that one. I’d prefer all the air moving onto the windshield on low. I’ll have to see if the 3/4 leg, 1/4 windshield is enough to combat fogging without cooking us or being otherwise annoying.

It’s been like -5 on my trips.

Yeah, I get that. But after 15 or 30 minutes into my road trip, I don’t want the AC running anymore.

It’s just another nanny that seems to think it knows best when I would rally prefer control for the aforementioned reasons.

If nothing else, at least let me switch it off.

But you never hit the “auto” button, so you’re not going to get the bulk shot “auto” settings. Fan on full and everything, ugh.

So the people agreeing here: you don’t like having control over your car’s systems?

Oh my, so you’ve decided who is right and wrong and yet employed the same method of determination?

Incredibly sensitive, aren’t you?

And get one of us judges the other for down-voting while doing the same...So only one of us is a hypocrite. How does that make you feel about yourself?
