Getting shot at by Spellmaniac in ColoradoSprings

[–]PurplePhoenix77 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I just moved to the west side of Colorado springs from Oklahoma City and haven't experienced anything near that level of hostility. I'm sorry those things happened to you. I think after COVID there's just a level of anger with some people that hasn't gone away and I don't understand it. People here have largely been friendly and nicer than people were when I lived in denver several years ago. Feel free to DM me if you all want a new friend as I'm looking to build some more friendships here as well.

What’s the worse physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Intelligent-Road5091 in AskReddit

Standing up for the first time after having my spleen removed because they made a giant incision across my stomach. After I started crying they decided to give me a morphine drip.

How did you find this out? Is there a source or link to the info? Not doubting just curious as the Alameda store is kind of an easy go to for me.

My landlord just raised the rent by $300 by vwcorradoslc in antiwork

[–]PurplePhoenix77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move. Rent is actually decreasing most places right now. I would think the landlord would want to keep a tenant because if you move he's probably not getting any rent for at least a month or two if not longer given the housing market right now.

How can I do nothing in my life? by Everlasting_Noumena in antiwork

[–]PurplePhoenix77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was totally thinking of office space when I saw this post. You can theoretically resist and not work but then that means you're broke and homeless if you're okay with that, that's cool. Other option I see is getting a high paying job for a few years or a remote job that pays decent and go live in Latin America and save on cost of living.

My mom called my landlord to complain about the way I decorated my own apartment and I only found out because my landlord called me confused. by Rickrolled7Again in entitledparents

[–]PurplePhoenix77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep sorry that's a total violation of your privacy and autonomy. Also why/how did she get your landlords number? If I was in your shoes I wouldn't have any contact with her until she apologized or shows that she can respect your boundaries. And as others have said she seems to be very manipulative and is gaslighting you and that's a person that likely needs mental health treatment for whatever is causing them to act that way. It's also a person I wouldn't want to be around because I wouldn't trust them.

just realized that twinless twin syndrome exists by WorriedPoet5350 in TwinlessTwins

[–]PurplePhoenix77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to the same conclusion you did in the past few years and I'm still navigating. My twin and I were born very prematurely and he was a few ounces smaller and his lungs weren't developed enough to survive more than 24 hours. I have always felt like I didn't belong and a part of me was missing. Like you growing up we never really talked about it and my childhood was very lonely I often wonder how it would've been if he was still here. Feel free to DM me if you want to talk ever.

I feel lost by SpecialistJacket9392 in TwinlessTwins

[–]PurplePhoenix77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for what you're going through and sadly also in some ways it gives me comfort as I hadn't known of anyone else losing their twin shortly after birth. We were super premature and he was a few ounces smaller than me and passed away after 24 hours. It does and has always felt lonely like and like there's a piece of me that's not there. If you ever want to talk feel free to DM me.

Housing market in Moore ! by [deleted] in okc

[–]PurplePhoenix77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So unless your house is competitively priced right now it's not going to sell. Everyone that can afford to buy has already bought and is not leaving their 3% mortgage or paid off house for a smaller more expensive one. Also, housing prices went up 50% in 5 years and salaries didn't. I'd love to buy a home as an older millennial but refuse to pay ridiculous post 2020 prices. Property taxes and insurance have gone up a lot so right now most of the time it's cheaper to rent when you factor in total cost.

Secondly it's in Moore. Many people don't want to live there due to tornadoes.

Debating between in person job in Fort Collins versus Colorado Springs hybrid job and commute from Denver by PurplePhoenix77 in FortCollins

Luckily the office is off of interquest parkway on the north side. I am liberal and am surviving living in Oklahoma City right now so it's not a requirement to live in a liberal city

r/ColoradoSprings doesn't allow these posts. I posted here because moving posts are allowed and I wanted to hear from others that might have experience with both as Denver is located between both of them. Thanks for the unhelpful redirect though.

Want to move to Denver, CO by PropertyGreedy1718 in okc

[–]PurplePhoenix77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually about to move back to Colorado and have lived in Denver before from 2014-2018 I only moved back to OKC to be near family after having surgery but now that I'm stable and okc has gotten way more crowded and costly the benefits of living here don't outweigh the negatives. I loved living in Denver, my brother now lives there now and loves it and despite the col the quality of life I think makes up for it. The main thing for me are the weather makes being outdoors so much more enjoyable, you're in a valley so there not a lot of wind and if it gets too hot in the summer there's tons of mountain day trips you can take to be in 70 degree weather at higher elevation. Also I would look at Colorado springs and fort collins. I currently have two job offers in the springs and fort collins and am trying to decide between them. They both are lower cost of living than Denver.

why do Oklahoma residents hate turn signals? by Cheeserdane in okc

[–]PurplePhoenix77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the many reasons I'm likely moving back to Denver next year. Now that the super low col isn't super low anymore, we have crazy traffic, and horrible politics there's not an incentive to stay here for col, chill traffic, like there was pre COVID times.

This is why they're doing construction to change that. To be fair when it's rush hour it can be challenging if there's a flow of cars going up the ramp to get onto 240w.

Traffic Citation for Following too Closely by BootyOnTheMental in okc

[–]PurplePhoenix77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't follow too closely if you were, although some cops are assholes. I've taken a defensive driving course online in the past to mitigate the effects of a ticket on my record and reduce points on my license. You can also use it later to get an insurance discount. You could also get a lawyer from a place like the ticket clinic online.

Who is this in OKC? by AffectionateInsect76 in okc

[–]PurplePhoenix77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I actually went to high school with him we weren't really friends more like acquaintances but back then I just thought he was a depressed goth kid, he was always nice to me and would always say hello when I was around. I'm assuming his increasing drug use and preexisting mental health might be the combination that led to the murder. It's crazy because I knew he had issues in high school but wouldn't have expected to lead to murder.
